BLB Debut Thread - 1982 Edition

Haydon's still up in Pittsburgh, and while his OBP is pretty damn low, he's not doing bad. Other than that first month of April, he's been great:

May: .282/.307/.527, 6 HR, 20 RBI
June: .279/.303/.462, 2 HR, 18 RBI
July: .283/.322/.425, 1 HR, 7 RBI

Not spectacular, but he's on pace for about 16-18 homers and 75-80 RBI.

Been very reliable as my #4 starter this year. 10-4, 3.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 92 K, 127.2 IP. Probably the leading candidate for IL rookie of the year.

C - Ernesto Guillama

Backup catcher. .229, .601, solid defensive replacement for my starting catcher.

Both are back in AAA playing decently well. Might be with the big league club again in 1984.

SP Saul "Down Home" Soriano will be making his BLB debut with Carolina this week. He'd been a top 60-70 prospect until he was inexplicably dropped from the rankings. Originally an afterthought pick in the 1979 draft (7th round), he's torn up the minors. Currently has a 9-3 record at AAA, with a 1.89 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.

Soriano went 13-3, 1.96 ERA, 0.85 WHIP at AA last season.

He was voted IL Refreshing New Brew for last season and is 10-5, 2.61 ERA this season. I'm very happy with Soriano, and I'm not sure he's done improving yet. He's played well beyond my expectations to this point.

If Aurillo goes .500 the rest of the way... and Tardiff goes .900... I still think Aurillo is in the driver's seat. It could be a battle.
