Also seem to disdain IFers. One note: I hate to rip a prospect..but scout wise and stats wise I have zero clue why 3B Ron Hammond is ranked #22 right now. Even his character is a shady. Again crazy sometime on what the OSA sees.

Its all good though. The version changes keep you honest.

I also have seen the possible death of the 5-6-5 pitcher, but more research needed. I remember versions ago I saw this with the 5-5-5 pitcher. Feels like you just can't keep the ball in the park anymore.

Of course when your defense sucks.....

Jimmy Lewis is a 555 and he did fine the last two seasons in 16.

17 seems to have stabilized him a bit more but for a 555 pitcher, I can't complain with his performance.

They will be of course guys who defy things, I usually look at the big picture. Again I'm talking versions ago 5-5-5 guys use to roam the #3-#4 role and some would even crack an Allstar or two. (Ruben Aparcio even won the Pale Ale) Then for a time seemed 5-6-5 / 5-7-5 were the rage in the middle of the rotation. Looking around the league these pitchers appear to be giving up more homeruns PLUS whatever is hit is rocketing out of the infield.(again not all)

Since we suck right now I'll be looking for these strange trends. Maybe 6-5-5 will be the new thing?? Don't know yet.

I noticed, too. I've been tracking the changes over the years.

In the mid-1980s, 5/5/5 translated to a solid #2 or #3 starter. Mugsy Irvin was a multiple time All-Star as a 5/5/5 (at best) starter. It wasn't unusual for teams to have pretty good 4/5/4 or 4/4/5 starting pitchers.

Over the years, the standards for starting pitchers rose significantly.

5/5/5 is not entirely usable, as funclown said. Even 6/5/5 and 5/5/6 can be sketchy for back-end starting pitchers.

Lol, see the new owners it won't matter. Us old folk will need to adapt. "Adapt or die". All good things.

Guess I lost that round. Thanks Trump!

Bradburn was the #1 Prospect in the Cape league, according to the Top 100 list. So, I'm not surprised to see him come up on our list. I don't really agree with it - I think he's ok - but there's always been a strong correlation between those lists and where guys end up ranked when they're drafted.

I used to think I had a good idea what that list was based on. In 17, I don't really know. Others have said that the "Potential Ratings" area on your Player Development screen is the best place to look at your prospects, and I agree with that.

I'll be interested to see how guys move on the list. It certainly doesn't line up with how I'd rank our new draftees.

Gantt is a 5/5/5 pitcher and so far is a solid #3 for us... Still shifting things around and he will probably drop to #4 whenever Lofink decides to start pitching again...

my scout had him as 6-6-5 POT and is only 23. were talking about career guys not young kids with still upside.

im sure 50% of kids developing were at 5-5-5 at some point.

That is very curious my Scout has him fully developed at 5/5/5

My guy has him at 6/5/6 potentially, and OSA sees him as 6/5/5.

Dallas has a ability scout. Basically can point out the regular players , but tends to miss on the upside.(hidden gems)

Pawtucket has a tools scout. Can see a player upside, but also tends to be sunshine and rainbows. Tends to overlook normal players but effective players.

Windy City is neutral. Basically see's a little bit of both sides.

No idea how we did in the draft. Guess we'll find out after we get some games in our system. I like our pickups though, maybe I'm delusional.
