      He can play defense though.

I'm more concerned for Joey Knaggs.

Ethan Nygren with zero career games at catcher had to start for him just to get Knaggs a break.

Now it's my turn to do a little hatin'.

Now I love Poppino. We drafted him and we are happy he found success in the league.

But how does he get IL POM over Carrasco? That damn NY bias.

I can't believe you got both of those guys. The best $250+ million Baltimore ever spent.

Thanks Matt! Now if only we can figure out how to get the 3D replays to work?

I can't even get the 2D to work.

Do replays not work at all? Is this something we need to upload?

It shouldn't be. I don't get any animations for ball location in 2D and I haven't even tried 3D yet.

Yeah me either. I think this is a setting the commish has to set somewhere for the (2D). I think we need 3D stadiums for the replays to work in 3D.

Maybe. I tried to toy around with the 3D stadiums a bit in single player but no luck yet.

That's extremely premature. Dominguez will have to produce roughly 50-55 WAR to be worth that contract (glhf with years 5-8). And having $40 million tied up in two players can be problematic, especially when one of them is a reliever. You're only going to get so much value from 70 innings even if it's the best closer in the league.

Carrasco is getting paid the equivalent of other top closers in the league (historically). So long as he's dominant the WAR doesn't matter (in my opinion).

I tend to think shut down closers should get paid. There are only a handful. And because WAR isn't exactly friendly to relievers, why bother using that to value one? If the guy is one of the top closers, he's worth his contract. Case closed.

Dominguez will be the interesting case because there aren't pitchers in our league getting paid his money. The closest was another international.

I'll assume Delandis will value Dominguez's contract with his team's success. If he's not winning and the contract is holding him back, he will need him to be dominant to trade him.

If he's winning, and Dominguez is one of the top starters in the league, so what if it's 7 WAR or 5 WAR. Wins and revenue, baby.

If Baltimore gets one Brewmasters during this run, it's worth it.

While technically true, you need to consider the external benefits to his organization.

By "overpaying" for Dominguez in free agency, he added a young ace without having to surrender any assets other than financial flexibility.

How many millions of dollars a year is it "worth" to keep your top draft picks, prospects, and young players? (That assumes there even exists a pitcher like Dominguez you can trade for. I'm not sure that assumption is valid.)

And Delandis has always shown an ability to navigate tricky financial waters and surround his high-priced talent with cheap but capable role players.

I sort of agree with you on the closers, but at the same time, trying to value players without WAR is like trying to value goods without using dollar amounts. Scriber is my highest paid player, and the days of bullpens (real life or otherwise) being a market inefficiency are over, it just doesn't strike me as prudent to essentially offer a guy an arbitrary amount without considering budget, future plans, etc. And to a point, it's unfair to other GM's who basically can't ever get guys like that on their team because they refuse to give out crazy contracts.. Why willingly throw money away to people that have never played in the league? The most I would've offered for Dominguez is like 7/120, but I could've defended someone giving $150 million depending on the contract structure. Anything over that is/was lunacy.
