Some DL thoughts about whatever I feel like talking about regarding every team. I'm trying to do better by following everyone.

    Toronto -
I absolutely love that Brendan Watts has worked out so far for Toronto. That was a big money risk for a team that needed to use their money wisely and it obviously worked out last season. 1 complete game already in Watts' first start.

    Pittsburgh -
I remember when Marcus was drafted as a potential big power bat. Kind of lefty I'd like in Denver except for the eh defense. It's been a bit slow for Marcus, but I'm following.

    Wilmington -
I have a vested interest in McCrory and long-time Denver pitcher Pat Steffen. I'm intrigued by Steffen being placed in the rotation though I realize Matt likely had more to do with that than our new GM. I would advise Steffen stick to the bullpen. He's been crazy effective there and it's much too late to teach that dog a new trick.

    Pawtucket -
Remember when funclown ruined Mongo Brooks? I've been watching the guy a lot since and he settled a bit last year but I worry that Brooks is more who he's been recently than anything else. A 2.5 WAR pitcher isn't too bad if you're rebuilding which I guess Pawtucket is doing?

    Syracuse -
There are a couple guys I'm very interested in. Dave Webber is one. Oscar Sanchez (former Patriot) is another. But it's actually another former Patriot I'm most interested in: Fred Kimble. I often wonder if Pawtucket's pitchers are a lot like the old Virginia guys. Can't over value their production because of team success. Kimble always scared me because of that.

    Hartford -
I'll be honest, I have no idea who Enrique Ortiz is. But I want to know more about him because he looks ready to take the next step. What a nice 2020 start for him.

    Maine -
I know Z is excited to see Sliney start off so well. He's always showed magic in the post-season but had not put it together in the regular season. Maybe this is the year?

    Indianapolis -
I've been impressed with how quickly JJ has molded this squad into his own without taking from it its potential to succeed. The trade for Monks was such a great stealthy one late into Spring Training. I always liked Monks and he's a good fit for that team.

    New Orleans -
I really hope this isn't the beginning of the end of Wade Brown. He maybe should not have been the first overall pick, but he's done a nice job in New Orleans. Last year was rough after a 2018 injury. Was hoping he would have shaken the rust off by now.

    Dallas -
Ian Moore reminds me of CJ Wilkinson. Guys you'd like to see hit better but they are so damn good defensively, you almost don't mind. I really wonder if Moore will get paid or if Dallas will let him walk.

    California -
I follow Travis Gerlach because when he was a free agent, I had the money to sign him and didn't want to fork over the $10 MM a season to do so. So I spread that money over Steffen and Bell. Watching Gerlach pitch so well has convinced me you gotta spend the money for an elite reliever (I did for Manning and it was worth it). So I won't ever again let a closer go that easily because of money. The best ones are worth it.

    Kansas City -
Blueprint is here. Everyone should be watching Frizzell.

    Los Angeles -
I hate seeing Marco Lona start his decline, but I'm super impressed it took till he was 40 for it to happen. I also love that Jimmy spent money to keep his guy. Lona's performance makes it unlikely he will ever get traded and that's how it should be.

    Morgantown -
I don't know if Tom Estes will hit this well all season, but anytime there's a major trade like the one that sent him from Philly to Morgantown for Taylor Thomas, I'm taking a look at how things go.

Actually Moore is just asking for 3 more years at $7M per with a player option at the end, which will get him in the wrong side of the 30s, he's been inconsistent so far the past season and beggining of this one losing his lead-off spot against lefties... I will have to think about during the season, but as you point out, his globe in the middle of the Infield and his ability to get double plays is just magic for our Groundballers...

$7M per for 2 + 1 years now that he's turning the corner to be 30 looks like a good deal to me :)

Probably a few SIMs. Don't wanna see that star pick hurt. But if you're ready by all means post something and I'll input it for you.

I like that. Keeping him could be worth it while you ensure you have someone ready to go to take his place.

Appreciate the shoutout. Ryan had a decent infrastructure in place, which made the transition pretty seamless. And I have the benefit of hindsight as I didn't really set those Pitt teams up for sustained success. I'm keeping my minor league system stocked like a doomsday shelter. Tommy Corr is the Chef Boyardee Ravioli.

Nope. In fact, I'd prefer a couple more sims for any last minute scouting revisions...

I think so. Probably if he had been drafted by another team, he'd still be in the minor leagues. He is only 21 years old!

I never expected he would be a true star. But I do believe this year he takes the next step to becoming a good starting center fielder.

That the BNN reports now rank him as the #7 center fielder in the BLB bodes well.

I know. I was being sarcastic.

Personally, I think I would wait until the entire the prospects post-season is over. More time to evaluate multiple scouting reports, larger sample of stats and the chances of an injury. Not sure what we would do if we went un timed and the #1 pick went down for 18 months or something.

Best of luck with the pick.

I'd like to, but I fear the social ramifications of making the masses wait, especially considering my lack of activity the last couple seasons.

Thanks for that, the AI had him slotted there so I took over and moved Steffen from SP to MR.
