A couple thoughts on the draft since 1.1:
1.2: MacDonough was the clear #1 batter to me, and had I not gone on a run over the last 4-5 seasons of falling heavily into a lot of hitters, I would have considered him more.
1.3: Not sure if squid would have gone with Stokes here, but cheap enough move to get your guy if Davenport truly loves him. I like Stokes, and tried to convince myself to look at him at 1.1. In game is my scout's #2, my system has him at the #2 pitcher, but I couldn't get over the stamina worries. I did click on his HTML profile and he's listed at 5 now, but I'm still seeing 4 in game.
1.4: Speaking of value to get your guy (that Pat wasn't sure he wanted), I think a 3rd rounder to get Bernardi here (whether or not D would have taken him) is a steal. A ton to love about this guy outside of a minor intelligence issue, which I believe can affect pitchers development and performance.
1.5: My draft system (and scout) see Whaley somewhat differently. My crappy system spits him out at the #15 hitter, #21 overall, mostly due to my scout's numerical ratings as a hitter. In game, my scout has him at #20 overall. It's probably time I weighted OSA a little more heavily in my formula.
1.6: Paton is nice. 5th hitter in my formula but I rate him higher. Nice intangibles, 20 yrs old already, and decent enough in the field, too.
1.7: Sometimes my crappy formula really likes guys for no apparent reason, and sometimes it hates them. It hates Banda. Has him at #74 overall. I overvalue power though, and my scout thinks Banda strides to the plate with a ThunderStix from a minor league game.
1.8: Joey Maney is a nice pick here, but I don't think he'll ever be elite. So, you can mark him down as a HOF.
1.9: My scout sees Mangan as a top 10 pick, and I tend to agree. Likes his defense a lot more than OSA as well.
