    • I picked Milt Dearborn with pick 25. My scout says good things about him. He rates highly on the NCAA Top Players and Top Prospects lists. His personality ratings are about as good as it gets. I think he'll be ok defensively in CF - he's been good there so far. He runs fast. I do wish he'd hit a little better, but maybe there's more in there, as he's raked to finish the season and in the playoffs.

He wasn't at the top of my board for most of the day - when I was attempting to trade up it wasn't going to be for him. But, he's the pick now. Hopefully it goes well.

For what it's worth, I thought Dearborn would have been long gone before this pick. My scout loves him (6 power and 7 eye). He has 888 speed from both OSA and my scout, too. Like you said his intangibles are almost perfect. His defensive stats have been impressive and while he didn't hit great, I think it's a good pick at this point.

            • Maine first round pick catcher Sean Gallion in seven playoff games is batting 16 for 31 with five doubles, a triple, two homers, five runs batted in, and six runs scored.

              Good for a .516 batting average and a 1.481 on-base-plus-slugging percentage.

              • Re: Dearborn, my scout had him as like a 4/4/4/5/4 hitter, but he is partial to guys who are less tools-y. His placement on the top prospects/players list leads me to be a believer though.

                • KC is rolling the dice a little bit with Tom Bruce. I'm a little concerned his changeup hasn't improved given where he is in his development. I'm going to try to turn him back into a starter but I figure we're still getting a very good reliever if that doesn't work.

                  • I like Edwin Branscome quite a bit. He was on my short list in the first round and was very strongly considered at #25 and earlier had I been able to make a move. I was a bit concerned by the personality summary, "not well liked by his teammates." If it weren't for that, he would have most likely been my pick.

But, I like the potential with the bat, the glove at 3B and versatility.

                        I like Bruce a lot.

When the draft began I figured he would be around in the 1.20-2.5 range and I considered trading up to grab him. If he can convert back to a starter, it's a steal. If he stays at CL, it's solid value for where he was selected. At this point in the draft, he might have the highest upside.

                        • I was between Bruce and Branscome. I was 99% sure I was going with Bruce until I took another look at Branscome, who my scout loves.

If my scout had Bruce with a 3 instead of a 2 potential on that third pitch, I would have taken him. Nice pick either way.

                          • Two solid picks. My pick here is on the block... again. Big Branscome fan but went Burchfield instead.

                            • Bruce was at the top of my list for my next pick and Branscome was at #4. Two good picks.

                              • Bruce was basically the pick I expected to make when I started looking in on prospects. I too got scared off by the Change-up, but that's probably a bad call on my part.
