We finished the offseason by signing another bullpen arm Erik Pearsall and catcher Tom Padgett.

Goal was to gain more depth in the pen, which I think we accomplished. We're definitely going to have a logjam. But I'm assuming some of those arms will fall off or get hurt.

We won 87 games last year with a lot of rookies. They all jumped in development over the offseason so I'm hoping we're in a good position despite not making a significant splash.

One more sim until Spring Training and still many good players in Free Agency. The #15 hitter and #15 pitcher still available. Zack Reeves (#17) as well, but his injury makes it less likely anyone signs him right now.
I may take a flyer on Reeves just for next year.
I figure he'll be pretty cheap by next sim. Hopefully.

Willie Londono is the #3 prospect right now!?!?

I'd like to let him cook another season in AAA, but I'm hoping he forces my hand mid-season.

Damn, that's terrible news, Shark. Hope he bounces back, but those significant setbacks can be bad.

I had a similar experience in OOTP15 SP when I was well in in Solo leagues... A Top Rated Pick, Top Development... Bad injury, setback... And he went downhill from there... If this is the case at least I have one more Arbitration year to take for him and decide in his future... Let's see what happens... It would be a big blow...

Unsurprisingly, we are also done with free agency and look forward to Spring Training to take a "look" at this team on the field. Our rotation looks decent on paper, but paper doesn't win games.

Of course we expect big things from Dominguez and Carrasco, but really we need guys like Zack Cook (SP) and Jimmy Cooper (SP) to make the next step as consistent leaders on the field. Cook posted a respectable 3.7 WAR last year, while Cooper is a year removed from a year that saw him post 4 games with 10+ K's and a personal best WAR of 3.9 WAR. 22 year old sophomore hurler, Jerrod Blick (SP) had a solid rookie campaign with a 2.4 WAR in 21 starts. Add in 26 year old and 200 MM man, Alex Dominguez (SP), and the Bulldogs have a lot of young arms with unfulfilled potential in their rotation.

Half jokingly, I mentioned in the trade thread with Denver, that we went out and got Dusty Threatt (RP) to try to keep the Batavia big boppers in check. The truth is that we probably only won 3 or 4 games against Batavia all season and that is no bueno. So really, Carrasco and Threat WERE added to make us (hopefully) more formidable at home, particularly with Batavia in mind. Even not figuring in our horrible record against Batavia, we lost a lot of games late with no real strikeout guys (outside of Monk) to sit guys down in key situations, so hopefully the addition of these guys can help with that.

Unfortunately, we spent so much money on improving our pitching we didn't have much left to work with for hitting. We did add William Lara who can hit well in spurts, but that addition was primarily to help develop our young(ish) pitching staff. We also added Dusty Filar (OF) to hopefully give us a little more pop in the outfield vs. RHP, while we hope former Clowns' star, William Diaz (OF) can help us score more runs vs. LHP. Diaz missed most of 2019 with a devastating kneecap injury but so far, our scouts don't seem to think he's shown any drop in talent despite the injury.

With so many if's and's and but's on the offensive side, it is pretty obvious we will probably have to rely heavily on the big bat of D.J. Gosser again. It isn't likely that he puts up another special performance like he did in 2019, but we can only hope that 2019 is more of a plateau than a peak.

All in all, I'm pretty excited to see where we go from here as we should see a better performance than what was shown in 2018 and '19.

                            BRING ON THE REGULAR SEASON!

I felt another disturbance in the force. Sure enough Darth Del is warming up his Death Star.

                                Uploaded, sorry about the DFA.

Been a quiet FA for us- have a bunch of money to spend which I'll probably sit on for the time being.
