Files due by 4 am ET | 1 am PT

File is up. Reports and Utility shortly.

    Stat of the Day!

    DFA:
    Roster:
    Single A Age:

Please check your DFA's. Since SIMs are longer any players you sign will run out of time in two SIMs. If your 40 man is full then we have to try and DFA a player based on our best guess in order to make room for the new player.

    Offseason Schedule

    1/30 - Free Agency 4 - Jan 16 to Feb 1
    1/31 - Free Agency 5 - Feb 1 to Feb 16
    2/1 - Free Agency 6 - Feb 16 to ST
    2/3 - Spring Training 1
    2/4 - Spring Training 2
    2/6 - Opening Day

    Reminder

    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

That deal looks like a bargain when you compare it to free agent demands of other outfielders. Nice work!

Is it a problem that according to my organizational depth chart, my top prospect in centre field is AA pitcher Dusty Cataldi??

It looks like this version has a "Homegrown team discount"... I expected my best players asking for Top-15 money... But I can lower them down to good and reasonable salaries...

Umm, isn't this exactly the reason we had the 3 stamp rule?

As long as everyone is good with it.

I'll add, I have no problems with Williams's contract. I'm only pointing out that "discounts" is what we don't want.

                This.

We want to keep our homegrown players at "reasonable" prices (whatever that means) AND we don't want to pay players in FA.

The bottomline is that we are cheap and is there really anything wrong with that? Probably just a damn good reflection of reality.

If discounts prevent pitchers from getting $200 million contracts I'm all for it

I'm guessing that's a nice little passive aggressive jab at Dominguez's contract. I'm glad you liked it.

Decreasing homegrown salaries is not going to prevent a 26 year old, top FA pitcher from getting 200+ MM. If GM's have the money to spend, they will (or at least they should) spend it.

The fact that people pay less for homegrown talent just means that more GM's will have a bit more flexibility for things like coaching salaries, PD and scouting, OR paying 200MM for a 26 year old, top pitcher in FA.

We clearly have different definitions of the word "prudent".

                              We don't.

We just have a different tolerance for risk.
