  • 2020 Offseason SIM 3 (FA2) Complete - Next SIM Sat 1/28

Files due by 4 am ET | 1 am PT

File is up. Reports and Utility shortly.

    Stat of the Day!

    DFA: Baltimore
    Roster:
    Single A Age:

Please check your DFA's. Since SIMs are longer any players you sign will run out of time in two SIMs. If your 40 man is full then we have to try and DFA a player based on our best guess in order to make room for the new player.

    Offseason Schedule

    1/28 - Free Agency 3 - Jan 1 to Jan 16
    1/30 - Free Agency 4 - Jan 16 to Feb 1
    1/31 - Free Agency 5 - Feb 1 to Feb 16
    2/1 - Free Agency 6 - Feb 16 to ST
    2/3 - Spring Training 1
    2/4 - Spring Training 2
    2/6 - Opening Day

    Reminder

    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

Damn you Seattle. If you want to trade your new signing let me know...

I offered marginally less, that's frustrating. Must be those damn team options I use.

As Paul knows, the Pilots sign IF Alex Otero to a two-year $6M deal with a team option. The 35-year-old doesn't really fit the rebuilding plan in Seattle but we really needed a lefty infielder and I have a soft spot for Otero. For those that don't know, he was one of my final Rule V draft picks before we got rid of it. Ironically, Otero played both pitcher and infielder as high schooler and was drafted in the 2nd round by Wilmington where they tried to make him a reliever.

That probably wraps up Free-Agency here in Seattle. The silver lining with striking out on the big fish is that this was supposed to be a rebuilding year all along. We will dedicate a large portion of our budget to scouting and player development for the first time in our franchise history. When do we get that draft class again?

I remember someone saying that we could change ticket prices throughout the season in OOTP17? Are you sure? Mine appear to be locked in. Not complaining but I hope if it's locked everyone got to set this before the season started.

A few big name retirements: longtime Freedom SP Todd Martin, WIL/DVS slugger 1B Willie Rosales, Denver OF Pat Verba, DVS SP Gil Brummett, PHI/CAR CL Jamie Crook, WAS OF Pat Ladd, BAT CL Jarod Goldberg, MOR 1B Hector Feliciano and fuckin' 1B David Gamboa finally hangs 'em up.

Being mad at Pat is a time-honored BLB tradition.

I managed to make a couple signings this sim, which will probably be about all that happens for me this offseason in free agency. I'm happy to land Rico. He's not the lefty I wanted, but he's another good bullpen arm.

                  A tradition unlike any other!

You've been busy. I like the Rico, Medina, Smart and Gonzalez signings.

                      Nuts. Feliciano retires.
I was trying to sign him so he could retire a Mohawk but he rejected my last offer. I was also hoping to get him to #500.
It's crazy how fast he hit a wall. It seemed like a lock he'd break the HR record and to not even get to 500 is nuts.
I probably cost him 25HR's though. In 2016, I kept trying to pigeon-hole him as our #3 hitter, where had been locked-in for years.
But after only hitting something like 6 HR's in the first 3 months, I finally moved him to the 5th spot where he hit 20 HR's in the last 3 months.
Same with 2009 when I had first taken over the Mohawks.
I didn't realize my manager had him only hitting against RHP'ing.
By the time I realized what was going on, it was too late and he had a down year.

I also messed up on his first contract renewel. I gave him what he wanted instead of hardballing him a bit.
If I had secured him for a better contract, maybe I don't even trade him, and maybe he gets to play as a starter longer than when he was with other clubs.

You have the 2nd highest budget in the league. We could easily switch you spots with one of the lowest if you want? Then you'd get instead of pay!

Yeah, I got more players than I was expecting. I don't think I offered those guys more than they were asking for (except Rico), but I guess no one else wanted them. So I'll have some juggling to do with my roster and maybe have to trade someone else.

                            Productive sim for us:

                            Hurst
                            Tortorici
                            Re-signed Knasel
                            Davidson
                            Evers

Rotation and bullpen are set. I might go back in and get another middle infielder but my shopping is pretty much over.

I think ticket prices lock in for season tickets and then unlocks during the season.

I've been able to change prices in my other leagues.
