I wish Twinkle Toes Alvarez were still 19 with a working right arm.

How's that for an anniversary present?

The owner had been talking too much shit about how terrible I've been as a GM the last two years, and I just have too hard of a time with this "slow roll, wait for prospects to develop" method. I don't mind the waiting, but the losing WHILE waiting is just too much for me.

I knew that some of you guys would go big on the pitchers and an established leader like Lara, so I put in offers that would have to at least be heavily considered by all three.

Lara's deal has an opt out for him in case he thinks there is more money in FA next year. When he signed, I received and email from the team praising me for adding such a great leader to the team. Hopefully that is a positive sign.

Like Pat, I expect Carrasco to be our closer going forward. Monk is a great pitcher but he had a little too much trouble handling the closer role last year. I'll probably start Carrasco as a setup guy since he doesn't seem to "want" the closer role yet. However, his potential to keep the ball in the park will have him move into the role sooner or later .

The Dominguez contract is a monster and contracts like this usually come back to bite the GM in the ass long term. With that being said, Dominguez is only 26 and I'm just tired of hesitating on big signings only to have a bunch of would've, should've, could've bouncing around my head later.

In the end, there was no way I expected to get them all plus Filar since I only offered to five or six guys in total. Now there may be a few guys available cheaply to shave a few dollars off the top, so keep your eyes peeled for a Baltimore block in the next day or two.

I love the dynamic of the veteran defensive catcher and the young electric arms. It makes so much sense.

I'm glad they all went to the IL.
