I think a superstar play making $25-$30m is realistic for this league.

For new owners FA1 is insane. These guys are asking for the moon. Demands will come down. The same goes for extensions for current players.

I think $25 mil is the max for me...our payrolls aren't as large as most MLB teams. You'd have to combine the top two payrolls to equal what the Dodgers pay/what the Yankees paid before their firesale. Just for comparison, the top 5 BLB and MLB payrolls (2016 MLB numbers/2019 BLB):

      MLB
      1. LA Dodgers ($223 million)
      2. NY Yankees ($213 million)
      3. Boston ($182 million)
      4. Detroit ($172 million)
      5. San Francisco ($166 million)

      BLB
      1. Philadelphia ($128 million)
      2. Maine ($123 million)
      3. Pawtucket ($122 million)
      4. Death Valley ($122 million)
      5. Hartford ($119 million)

I don't know how Syracuse, Davenport, Carolina and KC will be able to maintain 2 of their stars in 6 seasons.

Players are asking for what can be paid. Once guys get signed and available money decreases, so will their demands.

Yonke can realistically ask for $40 mm from Los Alamos based on their potential available money in the next few seasons. And he believes he's worth it as their best hitter.

            True.

I think one thing that would drive salaries down a little would be if we could buy out a few arbitration years and extend players earlier. They wouldn't be in their primes yet, so their demands wouldn't be as high, but they're still likely getting more than they would in arbitration.

I want this to be possible. I really do. I think it can be in OOTP 17.

But we need more testing. Because in the past, it was abused. Badly abused.

I did an entire write up on it.

I think it's more than feasible to allow after the 2nd Arb stamp instead of the 3rd.

I totally agree ... if we can drive TV revenue like the MLB does .

Has anyone done testing on OOTP 17 if players were more likely to accept one year deals versus avoiding arbitration which is common in the real world . At worst it would keep arb $$$ down just a bit .

As stated in other post we don't really want to become the NHL do we???
