  • 2019 - 2020 Off-season Discussion

SP / RP Tom Michie will remain in Dallas, I decided to execute his TO for $1,5M, I really like how this guy plays in our team.

C Erik Gault will remain in Dallas, another TO picked up for this off-season. Despite the fact that he didnīt hit effectively in the play-offs. I think Gault and his 3.6 ERA with 66 RBIs was a great contributor to our 3rd consecutive 100+ Wins season. Meanwhile Williams is developing, Gault will send the orders to our Pitchers this year. $4,5 M

CF Nelson Herrera, still in the Fence. It was a no brainer for us to Decline the TO for Herrera set to earn $5,75M this year after a very bad season at the plate, but his resurgence in the play-offs makes me wonder if I should keep him. Or complete the transition to CF O.P. Williams and CF Jed Davis.

In Baltimore, I see another sub-par year on the horizon. We've got a ton of cash for us to overpay for free agents, but I don't see anybody that we can add that instantly changes our fortunes. However, we can make incremental changes Our first priority will be improving our league worst defense and pitching in 2020.

I like to think we are just a young team that needs some of the youngsters to grow up a bit. Some of the performances from guys like 23 year old, D.J. LaRossa (3B) and 26 year old, Jimmy Cooper (SP) were very, very bad. After a breakout sophomore season, LaRossa looked like compete trash while Cooper gave up a a league high and team record, 39 home runs.

But on the other hand, despite a very poor year for the team, the individual performance by 25-year old D.J. Gosser who led the IL in AVG, WAR (in-game) was great. Also, 25 year old hurler, Zack Cook raised his WAR to 3.7 last season and seems ready to take the next step. Add in the strong performance of rookie, 22 year old Jerrod Blick and there is something to build on.

I'm just not sure that it will come from anywhere else other than our own minor league rosters for 2-3 more years.

I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

I have money to spend but my roster is pretty full.

Maybe I'll package a few pretty good players to get a superior one. If that sounds interesting, call me.

I've mentioned it plenty of times, but Jamie Urmson and Dave Lippert will both be heading for free agency. Those two have been my best players for most of the time I've run Washington, so it's a big transition. Urmson is currently seeking a 4 year contract worth $170 million, which I invite anyone else to give him since it's not going to be me.

Israel Morales executed his option year for next season, so the plan is for Tom Roseboom to inherit the job in CF. The rest of the lineup returns unchanged, though some reserves will have to be found.

In the rotation, Dave Koehler and CJ Thompson, #6 and #8 on the new Top Prospects list, are ready to go. I'll have to find space for them in the rotation, and add some depth to the bullpen.

One FA target has been taken off the list.

It's gonna be an interesting offseason for me. I have roughly $30 million to spend, but I'm unsure whether I want to spend most of it on an impact free agent or disperse it more evenly (shout out to socialism). Need to improve my pitching and infield.

It's a bit absurd, but maybe someone will pay it. I checked every sim hoping his demand would come down a bit, but all season he's wanted 5 years, 30+ million per season. Now with the new version, looks like he's asking for even more.

Like others, I've got money to spend, but I'll have to find the right spots. I can probably spend about 30 million if I want to.

New version has upped demands. The first few FA sims might be quiet.

As for us all time Batavia K leader Combs is seeing the door. He had a great career as a Muckdog and we wish him the best.

Just noticed that I still have Meulbaurer on my roster. Perhaps with the change over the trade with Pawtucket didn't go through?!

Dusty Filar is seeking $16.4 million and his expected role is a bench player. Yikes!!

Sounds like he is headed to FA.

I didn't do any trades when I converted the file and uploaded. I'm sure they will be taken care of this next SIM.

We are going to be paying a lot of money in arbitration.

Only tough decision is Fred Griffith. He's not a good hitter but he plays such good defense at 2B. I feel I should hold onto that since I don't have a lot of defensive depth at the position.

I'm so glad you gave him a career. He was one of my favorite prospects.
