2019 Regular Season SIM 26 Part 1 Complete - Next SIM Monday 1/9

We can't seem to play bad enough to earn the #3 pick outright. Luckily, we play Batavia, a team that we've gone 1-14 against this season.

I can't believe Im rooting for my team to lose. I feel terrible for doing that.

Clinched a playoff berth, awesome, I can add another year to my sig. We've got Maine for 3 to decide the top wild card spot. I don't think it matters, we both have home field and Toronto and Indy are both nasty and definitely gonna sweep my*** ass regardless. Was surprised that we split the sim up for this week tho. How many races are there?

Had to edit, wasn't speaking for Z, his team is good he'll do fine, but I'll be done in 2 games.

With the DL Wildcards being pretty much decided, the most consequential race left is for the Stout division.

In the WC round, homefield advantage looks set - Maine and Pittsburgh will have HFA in the DL, while PHI/DC/BAT will have it in the IL. Some seeding concerns beyond that, but I'm not sure there's much advantage to be gained there.

Really pissed that I overlooked him.

Benites could end up being more Smith / Reyna. Might be better to push him to the pen as a middle reliever. It worked for Pat Steffen's career.

Lawrence is the favorite because he hasn't actually lost his spot and hasn't done anything to lose it. I moved him to the pen to see how he reacts to it, and to also give some guys a couple looks as starters. My concern with Lawrence is his walk rate. I hate it. He's been top 10 in walks every season. It's been much better in the pen. I really need to get away from walks. Denver has been among the worst in walks for several seasons.

Carrillo has been a nice pitcher for us since claiming on waivers. I like him. And I also wonder if Smith / Reyna are in the same boat as guys that emerge as better starters once turning 30.

Most impressive takeaway for Denver this season is the ability to score runs. 5th in the IL in runs is no small feat, including 2nd in average and 2nd in strikeouts. And that's with only 120 games from Healey, 60 from Ichikawa, and both Slack/Anthony under performing... in a pitchers park.

Improving the 9th ranked defense and 10th in runs allowed, should put you right in the thick of the pennant race.

Ichikawa is probably going to take the starting job at second away from McCrory just based on second base defense alone. McCrory can hit and I gave him an extension prior to the season, but if Ichikawa can hit .300 and play solid defense at 2B, I'll play him instead.

Very possible Anthony loses his starting job to TJ Scott as well. This is based on defense.

I don't like losing Anthony's bat or benching McCrory, but I need to fix the defense. We have young guys that can play out there so I have to play them.
