I guess I need to stop drafting relievers. I'm worried Hurd's injury this season is going to limit his potential.

        • I like the Haba pick for Baltimore.

A chance he hits 30 home runs for them someday.

I feel like top of the line would be more appropriate.

Since I screwed up the first second rounder and reached on the second one, I figured I'd go with a safe pick for this last one.

Haba has power and he's pretty well developed. The only thing is that I have a shit ton of position players now but no pitching.

              • Went with C Johnny Mattes with Davenport's 3.2 pick. I really wanted the pitcher that KC took at 3.1 but had to settle for a guy who has suspect defense but looks like he should be able to hit some. Young guy with a high work ethic so I hope he can improve that defensive rating over the years. Just drafted Maravilla last year but really have no one else in the system so hopefully this pick will provide some quality depth down the line.

                  • Pick is in. Excited to pick up Ron Wireman this late in the draft. He has a pretty good make up so hopefully he can develop in our system for the next few years.

                        • With the 8th pick in the 3rd round, Seattle selects 17-year-old P Tristan Ryan. Had to move up to get him but I think he's worth it.

When 2.23 and 2.24 were up, I had a big board of SS Dave "Hooker's Ass" Johnson, P Pat Buerger, P Tristan Ryan and P Dave Williams. I spent about an hour trying to figure out who I wanted and elected to go with one hitter and the "safest" pitcher. If Buerger turns out to be the best of the group, I won't be surprised at all.

Ryan doesn't rank high on the HS top prospect list and my scout thinks he will barely make a BLB bullpen. However, as a two-pitch SP, who will immediately move to RP, he put up unreal stats for three years in HS. He took home 2nd in the Pitcher of the Year voting to SP Joey "Last Resort" Seymour, who looks like he could be in the running for #1 pick of the 2021 draft.

                          Ryan's career HS stats: 7-2, 3.49 ERA, 25 GS, 123.2 IP, 177 K, 1.30 WHIP, .360 BABIP, 260 ERA+, 5.3 WAR

He does have a few red flags, however. He's been hurt. His intangibles are pretty terrible. And he has a long development ahead of him. But I'm pleased.
