I went back and forth on McVicker and Nucci for about an hour.

The deciding factor being Nucci's smoking habit at 17.

That's good to hear. He certainly doesn't check all of the boxes I like to see and he's going to be 1B only on defense, but my scout likes his bat a lot, so hopefully it pans out for me.

I had it down to him and one other guy. Not sure I made the right choice, but if Harris' bat makes it then I'll be happy.

His poor fielding and intangibles lowered him on my board quite a bit. OSA has his infield ratings 2-3-2-2. That's almost "OF at 1B" bad. Personality wise, he sounds like a piece of shit. Very low work ethic, low intelligence, low desire for winning and high greed. That's pretty terrible. I also don't know if having high leadership is a good thing, when he is probably a clubhouse cancer. At 17, he's got a LOT to learn.

However... His batting potential, if he reaches it, could put him in the Washington Bats Hall of Fame. His HS stats are ridiculous, he's durable and 25 game hitting streak is a plus. My scout had him as the highest rated gap power and HR power hitter in the entire draft.

        Boom/bust.

If his profile didn't make him out to be a lazy fuckface, he's likely a top 5 pick. Great value, if nothing else.

            Well done, Syracuse GM.
Thanks, and Nucci was my guy at 1.10 actually. Had a nice offer from Andrew and KC, but would have stayed put for him until I got shark's offer.

Glad to see Nucci still on the board at 1.19 but everyone else I thought might last until 1.26 is pretty much gone already. We'll see what we can find.

Also, really enjoying the Syracuse GM jokes.

My scout loathes Harris. He mentions hoping he drowns in a housefire.

He has him at 5's across all 5 categories (3/2/2/2/3 currently) and figures he'll never get to the BLB.

This is the part I love about the game. There are so many different factors and clearly scouts don't always agree (SI has a great article about the Angels scout that was willing to quit if they didn't draft Trout, while their other scouts weren't nearly as high on him).

I've drafted some players who my scout disliked, but who had good stats and OSA ratings, and they turned out great.

He really like Huang. Called him a once in a decade bat.
I'm going to fire his ass if Flatland or Nucci turn into solid pro's.

I was big on Flatland and Nucci. Thought they would both go Top 10.

                • Matt is about to be auto'd... hate seeing that with 1st round picks.

On the plus side... I am interested to see who the utility picks. Recent years it has done very well.

He had a list, so the pick should have come from there.

How anticlimactic...I do like the pick, however.

                          • If anyone picking soon is thinking about moving down/out, let me know. There's still a player or two left that I like, so I'm interested in moving back up.

I've got 2 third round picks, as well as future picks if anyone's interested.
