  • With the 141st pick in the draft, the Bulldogs select homegrown prospect, Robby Davis (1B). Robby is a very interesting case in that before 2019 he only hit 2 home runs, one his sophomore year and one his junior year. Fast forward to his senior year and Robby hit 16 home runs including 4 GRANDSLAMS, tying for 3rd in home runs and 5th in RBI in all of high school baseball.

My scout has had Robby 4-8-8 since his freshman year and never waivered, but this is the first time that Robby looked like he could be anything near what our scouting staff projects.

The 6th round is a as good of a time as any other to start experimenting with picks.

    • I screwed up. I traded 6.13 to BDub, but it hasn't processed yet. I went in and filled in a list so that I would autopick because I'm not going to be around much tomorrow. Of course, my pick fired right away. Don't know how to resolve that. I wasn't thinking about the fact that the trade hasn't been processed and would fire as soon as I added somebody to my list.

              • Hank picked.... Now I fear he might be auto'd.

                Morgantown selected CL Tom Earls.

That was the last guy on my Warroom list.
After this, I'm going to let the utility pick for me.
First time I've done that since my 2nd year in the league.
I just don't know about any of the guys left. OSA and my scout are not playing nice.
I don't recall a draft where the two differed so greatly.

                    • Tom Earls is a strange case I'm not sure I"ve seen before.
He's never pitched an inning, doesn't have any history of injuries.
                      So what gives?
                      Is his dad the coach?

                        Academic ineligibility
                        That's how I take it.

                        • The draft has finished. When does it get put in game? Is it next sim?

I'm ok with the guys I managed to pick up, but not overjoyed. I'm not too high on this draft in general, but hopefully Harris can develop into the hitter my scout thinks he can be. If so, I'll be very happy with what I got. Maybe one of the relievers I took in round 3 can make it to the BLB, or someone in the late rounds can surprise.

I think it gets entered during this sim on the 16th.

I'm happy with my draft but there will be a few prospects I passed on that I'm going to keep close watch of. That tends to happen in years that you spent a lot of time scouting the pool. Every pick is between 2-3 guys, and usually the guys you pass get drafted soon there after. I also probably added too many picks, as we will bring in 19 rookies to a roster already at 30.

With five picks in the top 60 selections, if four of them are hits, I'll call it a success. With a class like this, anything after the 3rd round is a major dice roll.

                            • Anyone that becomes a star was pure luck. I don't want no one turning to 2019 and saying, "Yeah I drafted this amazing player."

No! You picked a name out of a hat, crumbled up the paper, took a shit on it and then threw it back in the hat so everyone else could end up with just enough shit in their picks.

For once I agree with funclown.

                              • I'm definitely not too excited about this draft. I grabbed a couple of guys that look like they could be contributors in the future, but nobody that looks like they're going to be a star in any sense. The rest of the draft was grabbing guys that I think have some upside, but will probably fizzle out in the minors. There's not really anybody that I'm going to be excited about. That's a bummer.
