    • With the 2.2 pick the Brawlers pick up SS Jamie Applegate. I debated between him and a SP that I liked but my scout hated him so Applegate is one of the new Brawlers. My scout thinks he can have a long career so here's hoping he's right.....for a change. Should be an okay hitter but I'm counting on him to vacuum up almost everything hit between 2nd base and 3rd base.

      • I like Applegate. I debated on picking him at 22 before going with Harris. Love his glove at SS and my scout thinks he'll hit, which he did well this season. If so, that's a really valuable player.

I'm not sure I made the right call with my pick.

I think this is a great pick. He has been #1 on my board since Nucci went off the board at 1.19!

          • Haha! I couldn't decide between three players, so I checked auto draft and it choose none of the three. We'll see if that bodes well for young Jamie Burns.

                • Made an aggressive trade to get Xue-qin Tow, a Taiwanese starting pitcher from UCLA.

6'6" with a great changeup. One of the most productive pitchers in the NCAA over the last two seasons.

I do remember seeing Tow as a guy my scouting staff liked.

                      • Two days in, 38 picks in, a few thoughts about this strange draft:

                        1. Where are all the nicknames? Only one player, 1.24 Syracuse SS Tommy "Sheep" Moon had a nickname in the first round. That's got to be some sort of record.

                        2. The only player, that I noticed, that thinks they are BLB ready was 1.20 Death Valley 3B Molina.

                        3. This draft has far less talent than the previous two drafts.

                        4. Kansas City is having another incredible draft. They had the #1 pick in Viger, used the #7 pick on Cawley (who I thought had a chance to go #1), #11 on SP Jamie Steele (CCBL's best draft eligible prospect), traded up (1.21 and 2.1) to #13 on IF Dave Flatland (Top 5 on my big board) and then traded 2.9 to Maine for their 1st in 2020. Incredible.

A few picks that I think really "fit":

-1.2 CF Tom Klotz to Davenport - They have been trying corner OFs at center for years. They finally got their man.

-1.10 C J.J Williams to Dallas - The only playoff team to pick in the Top 10, Shark got the best prospect available at a need position.

-2.7 SP Garret Ignagni to Toronto - Without their first round pick this year, Toronto drafts for need in a potential reliever. They will just need the 17-year-old to develop quickly.

-2.9 SP Xue-qin Tow to Maine - The price was steep (2020 1st) but Tow was the best remaining by far on my board and received a Top 20 grade.

                          • Went with LF Dusty Adams who won a Glove Wizard at SS???

Anyway the plan is to move him to the IF. Not a major fan of his OSA drop this season, but he's only 17 and has plenty of time to become something.

Worst case, we end up with a nice utility player.

He's going to give a great Hall of Fame induction speech someday.

"You know, my high school coach didn't even play me because his son played left field. But I knew if I kept working hard, things would work out."
