  • 2019 Free Agency SIM 6 Complete - Next SIM Tues 11/15

Next SIM: Spring Training 1: Tuesday, November 15

File, reports, and utility are updated.

    Stat of the Day!

    DFA: New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Syracuse
    Roster:
    Single A Age:

    Offseason Schedule

    11/15 Tues AM - Spring Training 1
    11/16 Wed AM - Spring Training 2

    Reminder

    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their third arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have three "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

How to make the most of spring training

    * Be aware of the possibility of injury. Players are more likely to suffer injuries in spring training than in the regular season, according to the OOTP manual. Keep this fact in mind as you set your depth charts. If you have players who are particularly fragile, carefully monitor their appearances during the spring. They're not in peak playing shape yet. Limit their action if you can — enough to shake off the rust, but not much more.

    * If you have the DH, use it wisely. Don't stick with your expected regular season lineup without thinking about it. The DH is a valuable tool in the spring for getting a vulnerable player at-bats without risking injury in the field. Use this tool to help your team get ready and healthy for the regular season.

    * It's the best time for learning new positions.
Players learn new positions more quickly in the spring, per the OOTP manual. If you want a player to get reps at a new position, spring training is the best time because (1) he'll progress more than usual, and (2) the learning curve won't impact your team's performance in meaningful games.

    * Don't stress out about performance. We're talking about a handful of at-bats and innings pitched. Players often don't play even half the game. Don't worry about a small handful of at-bats against unusual competition in irregular situations.

    * Fill out your roster. In OOTP 16 you can invite players to spring training without them having to occupy a spot on your active (regular season) and 40-man rosters. You have these spots — use them!

Offered Nara 4/15.5 and he told me it was too long and only wanted to sign for one year. So I offered him 1/16 and he signed with Maine for 2/14. Guess he wanted to play for a winner.

Also nice to see JJLinn quickly turn Indianapolis into what looks like a .500 team.

But then, we all know these predictions are crap.

Hoping to be better. I'll take Cardona's projection all day though.

It has picked the Bats to win the Stout. We won't.

Boring offseason in Washington. Swung and missed on the few major FA signings I went for, so only a few bit parts came in. It looks very possible that 2 rookies will be in my starting lineup most days. Payroll has fallen to the middle of the pack, so hopefully it will be a profitable year if we do come close to the projection.

With Urmson and Lippert both demanding gigantic contracts, it will almost certainly be a last run for this group of Bats.

TJ Dunn coming to New York. Offense is going to be very different this year with Dunn at 1B. Let's see how this team gels in the spring.

This year it seems harder to guess which teams will actually be bad. Really bad, I mean.

Syracuse, Kansas City, and Los Angeles look bad in the DL. (I'm not buying the report's 98-loss prediction for New Orleans one bit.)

I'm also not at all convinced by the report's suggestion that Baltimore and Seattle will be bad.

                      Davenport and Carolina? Probably.

Glad to see he was signed. If I had a spot for him I would have brought him home to DH.

I offered two years $29 500 000. Maybe he didn't want to DH...

I LOVE this new addition. I will be calling up two of my top prospects who might not play much but I think the experience will help development.
