    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their third arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have three "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

Missed out on all my targets this sim. I offered Peller more guaranteed money but NY offered a higher AAV. I was also in on Mel Reyes but DVS beat me in years and money.

Missed out on Peller despite him favoring my offer after FA Sim 1. Dang.

Continued to fill out my bench with Arteaga and Murakami. Starting to get nervous about some of the other offers I have out there.

I also had an offer out to Peller, but realized after FA1 that he wasn't going to be in my budget. It's not a bad deal he got from NY, just not something I could do.

I also offered Edwin Guerrero, who signed with Seattle. Pat made him a much better offer than I did though- I was kind of hoping I could steal him for cheap since I didn't see that he favored anyone. I'm not too disappointed since I've got several other good RH options for my bullpen, but I liked him.

Well got a couple of bull pen arms and a catcher to spell Wesley when he needs it but I had offers on Reyes and Peller as well.

However, we did sign two veterans:

Seattle added another target that I missed out in the 2016-2017 Free-Agency in P Edwin Guerrero. Just like with William Kroll, I overpaid to make sure it wouldn't happen again. Guerrero thinks he can start, the scouting report says he can start and I think with a good defense behind him, he could be really successful. If not, I need another bullpen arm anyways. Last time I took a chance like this it didn't work out with Tony Osorio, but I'm still hopeful.

Ironically, I've been kicking myself about IF Enrique Zurita as well. In the expansion draft, I went with 2B Jaylen Sifford from Indianapolis and then afterwards couldn't see what I saw in him over Zurita. He's 37 now but can field all three infield positions at a high level, switch hits and is a good in the locker room.

January 1 re-scout puts a different light on the Top 100 list, too.

It bounces around a bunch in the offseason, but I always keep track of it.

My system now has 5 Top 100 prospects again:

                    20. SP Dave Koehler
                    22. SP CJ Thompson
                    53. OF Tom Roseboom
                    73. SP Tom Mackey
                    93. OF Dave Schneider

All of them were at AA or higher to end last season, so help is on the way in Washington. Not too bad after graduating Roger Villasenor and CJ Turnbow from the list this past season. I'm probably going to count on at least a couple of these guys to patch some holes I've been unable to fill in FA.

Interesting. The HTML is quite different than the in-game list.

I don't put any thought to the list this time of year. I've seen guys on it that get bumped into bumhood very soon.

Yeah, it's an interesting time of year for prospects.

I usually don't put much stock in until the draft class is entered anyways.
