I would have to think if the surgery is successful, his eye rating would improve. If it fails, or he has a setback, I would assume his eye rating would decrease...he might even have to retire if he's blind.

OSA has his eye rating as a "2" so I would take this as good news.

That's what I'm assuming as well, Pat. Still, I'm glad it happened to one of my second rate players, and not Teel, Kopp, or Ratley.

Yep, when I joined these forums it was for the OSFL where everybody uses screen names. After joining the BLB and being more active here than there I got to feeling silly for having a made up name when everybody else is just using their name. Honestly, most forums I'm active in I use my regular name so it was strange using the made up one for OSFL. I just did it to fit in.

My teams collective eye is probably the worst in the league. I would have taken the risk on a top hitter, like Rory Gray.

I had LASIK myself about six years ago.

The procedure, which will be performed by world renowned Korean ophthalmologist Seung-soo Kim, has yet to be performed on a human being. Dr. Kim is quoted as saying, "We've performed the surgery -- successfully I might add -- on rats, several pigs, and, most recently, a rhesus monkey."

Due to pronounced astigmatism, the more common LASIK eye surgery is not possible for Larrison. "I really feel like this is my last option. I've progressed as much as I can given my current vision, and I really want to take my game to the next level," said the 27 year old at yesterday's press conference.

Dr. Kim and the team trainers have estimated his recovery at four to six weeks. Provided the surgery goes as planned."

Right now he's showing as out for 6-7 weeks for Elective Eye Surgery. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Is his eye rating going to improve? If it did, he'd be a much better prospect for making the BLB.
If this really affects his future would be amazing. But I think this kind of news are just random injuries like he dropped a knife in his foot or he was making reforms and hammered his thumb.

I don't know. They definitely selected a player with a terrible batting eye. I guess we will wait and see.

I've thought about LASIK a couple times, but never made the plunge. I'm still waiting to find out that everybody that's had LASIK goes blind after about 20 years or so.

Still, has to be better than rhesus monkey eye surgery.

Shark, don't poo poo my good news. Larrison is about to have a breakthrough and become one of the better hitting SS in the game.

Well it's been around since the mid-90's so maybe your prediction is accurate if people start going blind all of a sudden. Let's hope not.

From everything I read before and after, there is something like a 95% satisfaction rate, which I think is fairly high for elective procedures. There is also a 1-in-10,000 risk of significant vision loss consequence due to the surgery. However, there is a 1-in-2,000 risk in daily contact wearers as a result of infection. So, it's actually probably safer to get LASIK once, as opposed to putting in contacts every day.

I know at the time of the surgery, after being approved as a candidate (some people are turned down), I was informed that I will probably see normal decline in vision that most people do as they age, but because of the surgery I would never be able to wear contacts again and I'd have to probably get glasses in my 40s or 50s. Fine by me. I always hated contacts anyways. And 20ish years of better than 20/20 vision was worth the $4K I think I paid.

My fear was that a better technology/procedure was going to come out in my lifetime...or I wouldn't be able to wear Google contacts that everyone gets in 2030 or something.

I use contact lenses to practice sports or going out and some days is just impossible to put them. They burn in the eye!

What world is this? Washington is the most successful team in history. You have 6 hot players! You've been unstoppable the last 2 months. You missed out on the Division by 1 game.

I love my team but I'm a realist...we're in trouble.

Please don't ruin my narrative. Stu "Lord Vader" Stark and the rest of the Muckdog empire are too much my gritty but undermanned bunch.

You did dominate the season series against us. We had very little success against your team in any facet of the game.

Reeves is exhausted and you swept and are rested. My leadoff hitter is Cold...my stud defensive 2B is hurt for a week...should I go on? We're the underdog in this one.

With that being said Batavia is in.

Washington has 28 playoff appearances...no one has more. Six titles is just one off. If you subtract Clay's cheating decade you are #1 by far.

Plus they used to be the Washington Yankees. No one likes them either.
