My fat shortstop sucked all year.

In the postseason, he's batting .480 with a 1.519 OPS (seven extra-base hits) and won MVP in both the Wild Card and Division Series.

Well, Philly comes up short again. Can't win a 5 game series with Pat Evans losing two decisions (not that he pitched terrible, just needed 2 Ws in his starts, not two L's). Good series Matt and good luck going forward.

A steep cliff is in our near future and the bill will come due for going for it in the short term. Dark days lie ahead, but I think we'll have one more go at it next season.

Congrats to all the winners. Got 3/4 right, but missed on the Batavia vs. Philadelphia series. It really came down to the $30M man Reeves out dueling the #1 ranked pitcher in baseball, Pat Evans...twice. Money well spent.

Not surprised to see DC, Pawtucket or Maine take care of business...they were the better teams.

I'm very happy to be moving on to the ILCS for the first time in a few years. I wasn't expecting a sweep, but my lineup did really good work getting LAM's pitchers out early, and we managed to hold on to our leads despite them getting to both Lippert and Razza. Excellent work from my bullpen, including 3 innings from Tom Garton after Razza was roughed up. A great performance from Robertson shut the door for us in Game 3. Urmson brought home the MVP, but we the lineup did well as a whole.

Unfortunately we lost Nick McLaughlin, who had carved out a role as my CF when I wanted to go full defense. So that hurts us a bit.

Now my scrappy band of underdogs goes against the Evil Empire in Batavia. I'm not sure we've got the horses to go up against Goliath like this, but we'll try our best.

Good series Z, the Maine are the new rival to beat after dethroning the actual champions Good luck my friend I will root for you.

This series evidenced the problems we were having during the regular season, losing close games of 1 run, problems keeping the the opposing ball in the park and leaving players on base.

I must say I am disapointed with this end of our run in 2018 after having the best record in the BLB, but we still are a young team with room to improve and some great players in the minors with high ceiling that will substitute the ageing veterans eventually.

Now time to start to think in 2019!!

Got this news today:

"Pat Larrison to Try Experimental Eye Surgery: The Windy City has announced that shortstop, Pat Larrison, has elected to undergo an experimental -- and potentially dangerous -- eye surgery to correct his failing vision. The procedure, which will be performed by world renowned Korean ophthalmologist Seung-soo Kim, has yet to be performed on a human being. Dr. Kim is quoted as saying, "We've performed the surgery -- successfully I might add -- on rats, several pigs, and, most recently, a rhesus monkey."

Due to pronounced astigmatism, the more common LASIK eye surgery is not possible for Larrison. "I really feel like this is my last option. I've progressed as much as I can given my current vision, and I really want to take my game to the next level," said the 27 year old at yesterday's press conference.

Dr. Kim and the team trainers have estimated his recovery at four to six weeks. Provided the surgery goes as planned."

Right now he's showing as out for 6-7 weeks for Elective Eye Surgery. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Is his eye rating going to improve? If it did, he'd be a much better prospect for making the BLB.
