Hartford owned Maine during the season, 11-2. However, Maine has a few advantages. They finished with one more win so two of the three games will be at home, where they went 54-27, tied for the best home record in the entire BLB. They also have the hottest pitcher in the series in William Eddy, who is 12-5 with a 2.21 ERA since coming over from Kansas City. They also have arguably the best hitter in baseball in Ray Davila. Hartford went just 42-39 on the road and their best hitter, Dave Perkins, is hurt for another week. Maine in three.

Wilmington took the season series 8-4 against New Orleans. Some would argue the Wildcats are the most talented team in the BLB. However, with CF Jimmy Peller out for the first two games and a roster full of youngsters without a lot of post-season experience, the veteran underdog Dukes do have a better shot than you would think. Wilmington in three.

Philadelphia and Seattle split their season series 6-6. The teams are similar and different in a lot of ways. Both are defensive minded, 1st and 3rd in the IL in defensive efficiency respectively, and not very aggressive on the base paths, 12th and 11th in the IL in SB. However, Philadelphia scores by making contact often (2nd in AVG/H) and getting on base (4th in OBP). Seattle scores by hitting it hard (1st in HR, 4th in xbh/slg). The Freedom finished 3rd in runs allowed, leaning heavily on an IL best bullpen (2.87 ERA). The Pilots finished 4th in runs allowed, leaning heavily on their rotation (3.06 ERA). This is probably the most even matchup of any of the Wild Card games and I think it will come down to the late in Game 3...probably with Seattle's IL 8th ranked bullpen losing it. Possibly in extra innings. Philadelphia in three.

Washington won the season series over Windy City, 7-5. Both teams made trades late in the season that really turned their year around. Washington sent Top 20 Hitter OF Hidetoshi Haraguchi to Seattle for SS Dave Nelson. Since that trade the Bats have gone 44-20. The Blues sent veterans Dave Slack and Travis Anthony to Denver to make room for youngsters and proceeded to go 36-28. A lot of GMs around the league think the Bats are one of the most talented rosters in the game while the Blues look like a group just happy to be in the playoffs....first time since 2010! Washington in two.

You underestimate Wilmington losing surmeier. Teams that lose their best player ususally struggle, and believe it or not, the best sp in that series is on the Dukes.

That series also brings a tear to my eye, since one of the two great gms that I recruited are going to lose.

Intentionally or not that's extremely disrespectful to the Dukes and the job rob has done with that team since taking over. I know you're feeling yourself because you won a championship, but there's certain things you don't say. That's one of them.

May the baseball gods curse your ignorance and leave you with a brewmasters hangover. I'll be rooting for my ale brethren in that series.

Honestly, I'm just seeing the Surmeir injury. I noticed Peller was hurt because he was still on the roster but Surmeir was moved to DL last sim. I've been so wrapped up in the Bock race I haven't been paying as much attention to the rest of the league.

It's definitely a big loss but I think Wilmington still comes out on top. That rotation is so deep your boy Todd Taylor might be throwing out of the pen.

Bulletin board material. Playoffs are a different animal, and you never discredit the opposition. Jose Bautista said prior to game 5 of the ALCS that the young pitcher for cle will be "shaking in his boots".

That pitcher shoved and the tribe won. As I said, intentional or not, real or a fictional opponent, you shouldn't discredit any team come postseason time.

Also- regular season splits against an opponent are nice, however that team has also seen the players you have more than any other opponent as they are a division opponent. The more you see someone, the higher the probability is that you can feel comfortable and have success.

I agree, but I like it. I like some smack talk come playoff time. Also, seeing some rivalries develop within the new divisions would be fun. Not that things should get nasty, but a little jab here and there makes things interesting.

I know you're attempting to throw shade here, but I'll play along.

Yes it does. It makes a difference, so thank you for agreeing with my points.
