Don't let the sub .500 record fool you.

We may not be winning this year, but we've been "Big Money Baltimore" for quite a long time.

We come down to the wire with one chance left to try and sneak into the playoffs. We're getting very weird with our lineup, let's see if it works.

Overall I can't be more excited about where this team is. For a team to be in a rebuilding year and still make it to the last week of the season with a chance to reach the playoffs hopefully bodes well for years to come.

Our lineup consists of players with an average age of 24, we have a few really dynamic young players who will be the core of this lineup.

I was worried that i got so lucky with ohearn I wouldn't be able to find players to put around him, and looking ahead I'm pretty satisfied with Gurley, Skolfield, Stoll, Vickers and Cleto. Should be a quiet offseason, I don't anticipate much activity in the burgh outside of addressing a rotation issue and giving someone a good draft pick to take 40 million off my hands...(hint someone come get a high pick)

Let's see if we can't sneak our ways into a wild card round loss!

Considering how you slashed your payroll, discovered young surprises, watched O'Hearn cement his star status, and still had a pretty good year, yeah -- I'd say there's a lot to be happy about!

P.S. And you got to watch Toste establish himself as definitely being the superior pitcher to Syvertsen!

Yeah, not based on performance at all. It's basically 30% of all local revenue (so minus the national media money) paid into a pool and then redistributed around the league revenue baseline/average. The further above the baseline the higher the bill, the further below the baseline the more benefit you receive.

It's relatively hard to calculate/project out exactly because it's not a simple x+y = z for each team. You're constantly calculating out against projections (stack ranking projected revenues for each team) which are moving targets at best. Also, there's some slack in the straight away gate numbers because there's a 20% away team share that happens, so you can't just take your average attendance * $ tix to get a representative projection of the gate figures.

By far it's the grayest of areas when it comes to the finances. Just know that if you're in the top 3 tier of regular season revenue producing teams, you're going to take it in the shorts to somewhere around $7mil, next tier down around $5mil, followed by 3rd tier at around $2.5-3.5 and so on.

Which is why it needs to go. Why are we punishing teams that make money instead of lose it?

Superior is a stretch, especially considering how JS has a higher career war proving he's been more valuable....and the expectation of a top 3 pick vs a guy drafted in round two....but yes, toste had a slightly better season this year in an effort to close the gap on their careers

Has nothing to to with profitability. It's tied solely to revenue generation.

Thank you sir. This is what I was looking for.

I can fudge the math to get a reasonably decent estimate at this point in the season. However, you did mention I could see it.

What financial tab is it under?

So because I win and generate revenue I have to pay a loser $7m? Why?

Understood, I'm saying my previous statement wasn't a position or stand on the issue. I was simply clarifying the mechanics of the system as it is.
