He's only pitched in 6 games so far but LHP John Carlson has been a nice addition for us, posting a 1.04 ERA in 8.2 innings so far.

You have a great team so expecting the worse. I had us pegged for 2nd back in June.

Since May , Pawtucket has gotten better each month. Everyone is back except Nygaard. TJ Dunn appears to be heating and really getting some outstanding play from rookies Hopper and Lowe.

Probably running with 34 players for Sept. Let's see if we can win 100 games one last time this decade.

Seattle is running 37 currently, with three DL players set to return the following few weeks.

I know a lot of teams only call up a few guys but I honestly think that all 37 of my guys will play. Whether that's a spot start, specialist, mop up duty, pinch running, pinch hitting, or a defensive replacement, I think all will play at some point.

This is a generic question for all...

Speaking of call ups. I've not used this process effectively the last few years... I must be missing something. How deep do you call up? My BLB roster is garbage... Do I call up every decent protect I have, or just the ones that may legitimately make the big club next year?

            Thanks for any insight.

If they can hold their own at AAA call them up.

It's definitely a case by case basis, with the team and the prospect.

Take Seattle for example. We are a veteran club, desperately trying to win our division. Prior to this sim, I already had 40 players currently on BLB contracts. Majority of the players I am calling up, aren't really "prospects" more "AAAA" types, as we call them here. Some have played in the BLB before, even this season. These players who are borderline BLB/AAA talent levels but already in their primes. Some of the players I'm "calling up" for September, are well over 30.

However, California is in a much different situation. The Kodiaks are 40 games under .500 and really don't have anything to play for, record-wise. They have 32 players on BLB contracts currently. It doesn't make sense for them to pay the 30-something with little BLB future a BLB contract to help you win another game or two.

In years where I was out of contention in September, I used the last few weeks of the season as basically Pre Spring Training. I would play the guys who have a chance to crack the Opening Day roster. Veterans, who are soon to be Free-Agents, such as: Hernandes, Neubauer and Torres are just taking reps away from players who might have actually have a future with the Kodiaks.

5-1 and I'm so proud that the boys have not stopped fighting despite having a less than stellar season. At six games back of the last wildcard, we don't have enough juice to leapfrog the four teams ahead of us. However, playing in Baltimore finally looks like it may be detrimental to other teams playoffs hopes again and that's a decent silver lining.

Knocked us out. This month will be fun. Gonna roll out next season's anticipated lineup for 4 or 5 games a week even if it costs us.

Well we HAD to get our revenge after last week.

One thing I like about this team is very few players have low morale. Nash is pissed Pawtucket traded him and Bryan is pissed because he isn't starting, but other than that we are still surprisingly upbeat all things considered.

A lot of our recent success has been catalyzed by Z's favorite overachiever, D.J. LaRossa. The 22 year old hit 6 home runs in the first 3 months of the season, but 16 in July, August and just the first 2 days of September. He's one of the worst fielders in the league but there are no questions that the kid can hit.

We are also very encouraged about our immediate future on the mound. Zack Cook, Jimmy Cooper and Jaylin Byrd all look like solid to above average young guys ready to make the leap to everyday starters.

Things aren't too bad in Baltimore.

Based on current winning percentage, Baltimore is projected to finish 74-88. That would be the 3rd worst season in Bulldogs history and their lowest win total since 1996!

To put that in perspective, only the Maine Guides and Washington Bats have never had three seasons of 88 losses or more. All other franchises have done it at least three times.

Maine and Baltimore remain the only franchises to never win fewer than 70 games in a single season.
