Yes! Still 4.5 games ahead with just 30 something to play! Now the reinforcements are coming, and Jimenez will retire (or close) as a Shark!

Collazo had 5 bombs and jumped into the top 5 in IL RBI. Big week for him. Too bad he plays in a world where Lord Stark exists.

We opened the week with a disappointing home series loss to Denver but rebounded to sweep Death Valley on the road, giving us a 4-2 sim. I'll happily take a 4-2 result any time I can get it.

I currently sit 5 games behind Batavia in the Stout, so we're not completely out of that, but I'm more focused on getting the Wild Card, which is looking pretty solid.

There wasn't much to write home about from our offense this week - we hit .192 and only managed to score 19 runs as a team. But, it was enough to eek out some good results.

CJ Turnbow won IL Rookie of the Month, with a .357/.402/.602 line. Villasenor finished August with a 3-1 record and a 1.85 record. He's been on quite a run lately. Since getting roughed up by Batavia on 6/22, Villasenor is 6-3 with a 1.75 ERA, 63:13 K:BB and 0.92 WHIP. I've got plenty of older guys on this team, but if these two rookies can play like this, we have a decent chance of staying competitive going forward.

2-1 @ Batavia, 2-1 vs. Philadelphia to somehow end up .500 for the month of August. Seattle is now first in the Bock by two games over Los Alamos.

Re-signed 35-year-old Pat Vonada for one more year at $900k. He's been a huge surprise this season hitting .282 with an .895 OPS for a 2.9 WAR in only 276 PA. Even if he completely falls off a cliff this off-season, he's earned that money.

I'd argue he's the most accomplished five tool player in the history of the BLB.

I reverted some of the changes I made last sim and we bounced back with a 4-2 sim. We now have back to back series against Batavia and Philly, so we'll see how this next one goes.

We've worked our way back into a playoff spot. I've got 19 home games yet to play and 13 road games. We've been a bit better at home than on the road, so that's a good sign for us. We also have a lot of games remaining against the teams we're vying with for playoffs slots. Overall, I feel like we control our own destiny this season. If we can post a winning record in September, we should see the playoffs. If we can't close it out, we'll be watching from home for the eighth consecutive year. I know that the talking heads don't have us making the playoffs, but Blues Fever is sweeping the Windy City. The fans are starting to believe, and we've seen a 33% increase in attendance over last year.
