He's battled some injuries this season, but he's hit well when he's been in the lineup. My scout believes he's got some potential to be a star, but I'm not sure I'd go that far. Could be a solid hitter with some good speed on the basepaths if it works out. I don't have a lot of OF prospects at the moment, so hopefully he can develop pretty quickly.

I'm not overjoyed with the pick. There's one guy still out there that I'll probably kick myself for not drafting, but hopefully Roseboom will do ok for me.
What I liked about Roseboom is he is probably BLB ready, or very close. He wants Major Leagues. He currently ranks as the #2 position player in NCAA. He's really developed this year.

With the injury bug visiting DC often, Roseboom might have an impact this season.

    • With 16th overall pick in the 2018 draft, the Bulldogs select 17 year old outfielder, C.J. Stripling.

As Pat stated earlier, Stripling was always on our radar and according to our scouting staff, he has the highest potential of any player in the draft. C.J. is projected to have All-Star power and great contact potential and as a lefty, he could do some real damage in the Phillips Field.

As the Round 1 HS Playoff MVP, Stripling and his fellow Vanguard have played well enough to advance to the HS Championship game. We wish him luck in these upcoming playoffs and look forward to seeing him in Orlando next month.

Of course you trade up and take the #1 on my list.

        • The good news... I'm getting better at recognizing star players when it comes to the draft.

The bad news... The players I'm recognizing are starting to fly of the board.

4 people I'd be happy with at 2.3 and we are 8 picks away. Hopefully it works out.

I plan on doing this every draft until you trade me Fred Fredrick for the low.

              • Picking soon. Deciding between a 1B who is basically Milt Stoll Jr, which means I was stupid to trade Stoll and then draft Stoll, and a pitcher.

                • Went with the 1B. I'm an idiot.

Hoping if I start him young he can play a little OF.

                    He can't.

                    But he can hit!

P.S. I think it's funny (but meaningless) that he rakes in the regular season but in the college playoffs, he hit .150 and struck out in literally half his at-bats.

                    • He can hit. My scout has him at 3-3-4 for OF, OSA at 3-3-3.

So you don't think forcing him to play OF would improve that? Even 4-4-4 would be satisfactory for LF no?

It's my understanding that you can't do anything to improve a player's raw defensive ratings (range, error, arm).

You can develop his rating at a position by virtue of experience, but he'll still be limited by his fixed defensive ratings.

Time might prove your bet correct, but from my perspective, he has 3-3-4 defensive ratings in the outfield at best, which would make him the worst regular defensive outfielder in recent BLB memory.

Jamie McPherson, for example, has 3-6-8 defensive ratings in the outfield -- much, much better than your prospect's 3-3-4 -- and is still so bad in the outfield that, despite being the best pure hitter in the BLB's last decade, three teams sent him packing.

Maybe I can go to the DL!
