It seems to me that most all of the 16 and 17 year olds have bad defense. I was figuring that this is something that'll develop as he sits in single A. Is this incorrect?
I guess I've been looking at defensive ratings the same way I look at batting ratings, just that I'm only seeing actual and not potential ratings. I have no justification for this, it's just how my brain interpreted things. Dail will be playing the field in the minors, so we'll see how he develops there. My scout sees him as an average fielder, so I was hoping he'd improve a bit in that regard. Otherwise I might be shopping him to DL teams in four or five years...

As of now, I have one guy left on my board at #14. If he's there, I plan to take him.
But I am discussing trading the pick if he's not there, so if you are interested, reach out via PM. It wouldn't even need to be a trade down; we could deal for future picks or something else.Maine Guides

I hate not being around to comment on picks but I'll comment on mine.
First, I really liked the guy the Syracuse GM picked. He was my favorite hitter of the names not drafted. So that guy did great there.
Jimmy Thompson is someone that I think will fit in nicely with Tom Reed and Gotschall as lefties in a three game set in Rocky Top. (And Jimmy Lewis isn't making such a bad case for being the wildcard if one is tired).
This is assuming all development goes as expected. But I think Thompson has three plus pitches, I suspect his velocity will improve into the 98 mph area since he's only 20, and he has a similar outlook potentially as the aforementioned lefties, in my opinion.
I liked two other hitters but I have no problem picking a #2, #3 pitcher that works in my park. I consider my current rotation a collection of #2, #3 types and it's working out so far.Denver Bulls

16 and 17 year olds often lack the experience part because they're so young.
If they have the raw defensive ratings to play a position, giving them minor league experience at a position will develop their ratings there over time.Maine Guides

I'm not big on taking a 1B so early, but we had "Manu" as our third best hitter on the board and also one of the top power hitters. Despite the top two still being available, they were much younger high school players that didn't project well as defenders in the BLB.
