With the 1st overall selection in the 2018 BLB Draft...

The Toronto Canadians select 2B Jimmy Anderson from the Cal State Fullerton Titans.

Went with the 2B here because Anderson is more developed defensively than some of the other prospects in the draft. Overall there was nobody else that really jumped out at me. Few pitchers but I wasn't prepared to look at the other batters since defensively they weren't as developed. I was intrigued to add Anderson since he's 20 and fits in-line with our current pipeline of prospects.

I'm taking this to mean we need another consolidating thread?

Yes. Even overseas I knew this was the move.

My scout put him 10th on his draft list but Anderson has been #1 in this class for the past two years.

I posted about Anderson last year when he got off to a ridiculous start. He hasn't kept up that pace, but he's still been really good.

While some of you guys might disagree, I feel like this draft is the first one in quite a few years that didn't have at least one clear ace.

There are potentially good pitchers here of course, but no one looks like clear cut a front-line starter.

                    Agreed. Good talent though.

Enough not to let Pat trade into the top 10 for two late firsts.

Pat isn't trading picks anymore. His house rule.

Nor is he trading for other teams picks.

With the 2nd pick Davenport selects C Israel Maravilla. Excellent stats in the CCBL though I wish he was a tick or two better defensively. Came down to him and one other guy so I sacrificed a goat and read the entrails and this is what we came up with. Meanwhile the goat will be the main course later this week. Gotta love Texas! Of course I'll be the goat if he doesn't pan out.

That's pretty awesome. Maybe in a few years we'll get the support for that.

Good pick. I didn't think he'd fall to me but I hoped.
