They'll get plenty of Zhang in due time. Jimmy Maggio is still down there too to keep him company.

What's up with all the "I can pitch or maybe hit" players in this draft??

Ughh these players bomb so many times. It's party's due to the GM not able to commit to a position.

Very deep two rounds this year.

And me with a brand new scout. I guess I'll see what he's worth. Especially since we are predicted to be last.

I'm happy to have a couple first round picks this year. I don't think there is a clear cut number 1 either which makes my life a little difficult.

But I'm happy with who I have in mind. I'm ready to start if we want to get that thread going!

Denver goes 4-2 to open the season.

Swept Davenport but lost 2 of 3 to Seattle.

The good is the pitching was top notch. If not for poor hitting performances in our two losses, we could definitely be 6-0. That's very positive.

This upcoming week should be interesting as the rotation turns over for the first time to face Death Valley and Los Alamos.

Offensively, good performances out of Coffey, Healey, Collazo and Eberly. Need better weeks out of Szymanski (this is becoming the norm for the now injured starter), and would like to see Pat Webb get back into shape.

I'm sure we will see better from the pen, notably Potter and Threatt.

We somehow go 3-3 in a week that saw Stu "Lord" Stark hit a home run in every game against us, including a 2 home run opener (one of which was a grand slam) and a 3-run, 513-foot monster in our second game of the season. Talley and Pulido uncharacterisically gave up 5 runs and 7 runs in those first two games of the season. Only one of our starters made it past 5 innings and that was 2nd year pitcher, Jaylin Byrd who was making the fourth start of his young career. Not a fun week for our pitching staff as we gave up 33 runs this week. On the bright side, despite that unbelievably terrible opening series, we were able to put some things together later in the week and take 2 of 3 from Washington. Which just seems like guys were just still rusty following ST.

Gosser is starting to look like he's going to be one of those notorious slow starters and doesn't seem to like to hit second in the lineup, so we'll move him further down in the lineup. Murillo went 8/16 with an extra helping of singles but no one to drive him so we'll see if D.J. can help that situation. Rookie infielder, Pat Bryan looked good going 4/13, while veteran and future HOF catcher, Abraham Santana only with 1/10 but had 4 walks.

Also, newly signed reliever Chong-sik Kym pitched well in relief, but has suffered a mild hamstring injury so he'll get a few days off on the DL. That gave us our reason to recall Jimmy Mattoon back from Annapolis. Interestingly enough, when I ask both Ismael Lopez (manager) and Jerry Chumley (bench coach) for my pitching staff, they both see Matoon as a setup guy so we'll give him a chance there to see how he does.

Next week looks like one of those strange weeks in the season where we only have five games. We finish our home stand as NY comes to town and then we head out to Batavia hope for a better outcome against Stark and Muckdogs.
