2018 Spring Training 2 SIM Complete - Next SIM OPENING DAY Wednesday 8/31
*14-14 during the exhibition, tied with four other teams for 5th best in the IL. Spring W-L record doesn't necessarily predict the regular season but I think last year we went 18-10.
*In seven of the 14 losses, the Pilots managed to score just one run or not score at all. I know it's just Spring Training but I think that is quite telling for the way we score runs. Especially with the departure of our only true OBP threat David Santoyo, this team will live and die by the home run, even more than last season.
*As you would anticipate with the oldest roster in the BLB, there appears to be some decline. According to my scout or OSA, CL Robby Scriber, SU Ted Self, SP Felipe Vega, 3B Zachary Henne, LF Ethan $tuart, SS Dave Nelson, CF JR Lowe and C Dave Morrison are all showing decline in abilities from the end of last season. That's 1/3 of my roster and some of my top players.
*Only four batters hit above what I expectations: OF Zachary Oldham, C Morrison, OF D.J. Phillips and 3B Pat Vonada. However, with the average age of the group being 34, I wouldn't count on break out seasons. The rest of my hitters were well below what I would think they will hit this year. Not a good sign.
*The two most impressive pitchers were Joey Guess and JD Helton as they combined for more than a K per inning and a sub 2.00 ERA. They will make the active roster out of the gate as specialists. The rest were respectable from a heavy veteran group. Most important, no injuries here.
*CF JR Lowe got hurt again and will start 2018 rehabbing his ankle...the same ankle that caused him to miss four months last year, dealing a huge blow to our playoff run. The 38-year-old has gotten brittle and shouldn't be counted on. In his departure, OF Tom Herlein and OF Joey Eddy will platoon in CF. Yikes.
*Last year, at this time, I predicted we would be a .500 club and on the outside looking in at the post-season. A few weeks back, I predicted this team would be one of the WC teams but now I'm not so sure. Death Valley is going to be just as solid. Los Alamos might be the most talented club and will have an active GM for the first time....ever? Windy City and Denver are young, hungry with nowhere to go but up. And with the new playoff format, unless we win the Bock, we have to compete with the Stout for Wild Card spots. This might seem pessimistic but at this point I could see Seattle finishing ahead of only Carolina and Davenport in the IL. Last season was a perfect storm for this team to somehow win 99 games and the #1 IL seed. I don't see it happening again.

So at age 33.......RP Toshihiko Morikawa is now a borderline starter??
I wish I could see under the hood in this game.
Last sim the game told me CJ Cohen should be in the rotation. I think anyone with three pitches rated "2 or better" and stamina "3 or better," can be at least a borderline SP. As in they can start but might not be the most effective.

With your bullpen issues we did you let Rabb go buddy?

lol cuz he sucks . Good luck with him. I'll take my chance with Garcia. As for Morikawa he stays at setup but I was just seeing his age and kind of wondering why so late in life?
