    You only need 2-3 really strong RP core. This ends up being a great time to fill in the back of the bullpen. How about that good defensive IF typically 2B, 3B?? Not everyone is gonna bat above .280 on your team anyway. 4th & 5th OFers also seems to be easy pickings at this stage.

    Once in awhile you pull a 5th & 6th starter out your ass here also and perhaps a slugging 1B/DH, but like you said it begins to become pulling stocks.

    We still haven't seen a team able to "buy a winner" in the BLB, Even in the real world its become rare now due to how the draft is better pegged and scouted plus arbitration + slot draft money stopped the Yankees and the big market teams.

    Just thoughts nothing more.
    Actually Gomez and Collins were FA pickups and they contributed HUGELY in our ring this year... Maher was important too as a MR / Setup (on ocasions)
    Romero was a massive asset to bring to Dallas too.

    Not saying you have no reason, but adding my 2 pences here too
    Miami Sharks (BLB)
    * BLB Champions --> 2017, 2020.

    Ohio River Sharks (OSFL)
    * OSFL Bowl CHAMPION > 2036, 2047.

      While it's true those players were key additions for you, you paid $75 million for Danny Gomez, you signed Danny Romero as a free agent in December 2013 for $40 million, you signed Jimmy Collins in September 2016, and you spent the whole year trying to basically give Maher away and no one wanted him.

      They don't fit the "valuable players signed for bargain prices around spring training" discussion we're having.

        My mistake then, sorry I thought you were talking about FA pickups

          You can add pieces no doubt. All 4 cups for Pawtucket key FA's stepped in to provide an impact each season. Actually were very lucky this decade on that cuz some other decades FA wasn't very kind to us. Just cannot build a team on that concept. Least so far it hasn't worked. I think a few owners tried the route.

          Me and Z were just talking about cheap free agents versus the big ones. Simple discussion.

            Good debate. In 2016 we signed Santoyo late for, I think, $8 million and he returned 6.1 WAR. Best signing of the off season, too bad our team was so lousy it didn't matter.

              Weird stat... Santoyo, an on base freak is 28 HBPs (assuming I'm using statslab correctly) away from setting the all time BLB record for HBPs.
