Makes perfect sense. I'll be back.... But probably mid decade at the earliest since I'm trying not to do "Theo's game plan " next version.

Lol I wonder if or when the MLB will do anything about it??

It's the most pure way to improve. If more teams would do it there would be more competitive balance in the long term.

i agree. I wish I had more money. These demands are much more palatable.

With the change in the Salary structure its kind of been like this the past 3 offseasons or so.

Many times the best guys for the buck are right after spring training.

While that's true, picking the best guys for the buck at this stage is a real roll of the dice.

I grabbed Tom Churchill for $8 million last March, and he OPSed .690 for the year while missing routine fly balls in Davenport for the latter half of the season.

Batavia signed Tom Gibson for only $10 million last February, and he managed to play only 78 games while hitting .248 and giving back runs in the field.

Death Valley signed Jarod Goldberg for $8 million guaranteed last March, and he put only a slightly above league average adjusted ERA and walked almost a batter every other inning.

Batavia similarly added Shinji Yamashita, who, for the annual price of $8.5 million, contributed 0.1 WAR as a relief pitcher.

Other guys like Jimmy Rosema in 2017 worked out much better.

It's like picking stocks at this point.

Also true, but it also depends on expectations.

You only need 2-3 really strong RP core. This ends up being a great time to fill in the back of the bullpen. How about that good defensive IF typically 2B, 3B?? Not everyone is gonna bat above .280 on your team anyway. 4th & 5th OFers also seems to be easy pickings at this stage.

Once in awhile you pull a 5th & 6th starter out your ass here also and perhaps a slugging 1B/DH, but like you said it begins to become pulling stocks.

We still haven't seen a team able to "buy a winner" in the BLB, Even in the real world its become rare now due to how the draft is better pegged and scouted plus arbitration + slot draft money stopped the Yankees and the big market teams.

                                Just thoughts nothing more.
