Couldn't have known Death Valley was the primary competition.

umd was trying to clear salary before we even knew about Zhang.

              Matt, Brad?
You'll have to get them from BDub and dload the logo/hat/jersey. The same with the new Dino jerseys. Then insert them in via settings and run it again.

True, the trade was completed before Zhang was born into our universe.

                    I am not surprised.

I almost splashed it for him, but my scout just isn't as big on him so I didn't pull the trigger.

Not much doing in Washington. Signed a catcher to hopefully help us out while Moody is on the DL until June or July. Maybe a couple small signings to come, but nothing major. It's going to be a very similar looking team here, it looks like.

We got the new yearly OSA rescout. It always kind of bounces around in the offseason, but for now we're at #6 on the Systems list, with 5 top 100 prospects. So, hopefully I'll be able to find some help internally to patch the holes in my roster.

Its like as if he was the "mystery team".

I offered him but went low. I figured a young rebuilding team with plenty of budget would sign him for $25-$30m.

We have $30m locked up in Baisden and Clark the next 5 years. Having $55m in SP would have scared me.

Not convinced Zhang is that good.

I think there's more value in Tinajero, but I knew he would get too much money (for my taste) once he turned down my initial offer. It's still a good signing by Hartford.

I was clearing salary no matter what. Whether we used it or not was going to be dependent on who hit FA. Honestly, Rosales was cleared with the hope I could maybe offer Yahn a 2-3yr/$30-35m yr deal. This is still a transition year for us. When everyone started talking about Zhang, I realized I had the money to make a strong offer. Carlson and Gault were two guys I really really wanted. I expected Zhang to be somewhere else and not in Vegas. Fajardo and Marrero will get paid but everyone else is cost controlled now or too old (Williams, Kemp) for me to pay them more than $12-$14m a year when the time comes.

I'd be a little nervous to pay Zhang that much, but I've never had much luck with international players. I don't know that I've signed any of the major FA's we've had, but drafting them seems to never work out for me. But, if he plays up to what 5-6-7 OSA rating, he could be really good. I think I'd like to see him a bit higher than #44 on the prospects list.

I wanted Gault, but DVS put in an offer I can't match with my budget stretched thin.
