Yeah I noticed we dont play well on the road this season. For a good part of this decade we've been balanced with lefty hitting which aided us. We have Wright and Sanchez, but a few of our righty bats just cant seem to get going.

Like I said not at all mad, were just a bit tilted. Bullpen has been a concern all season.

The -PTY increase offers some amount of hope, but a semi roll before the postseason would be nice.

Least the wildcard is best of 3 incase we totally collapse....which if we could get rolling, advance would mean more playoff money???

Always a sunny side to things.

Maybe a Brewmasters hangover. I know we are fighting for the #1 seed in the IL but I don't think we have played as well as we could of. I moved some key pieces pre-season and let some walk, traded some important parts during the regular season as well. Still thought we would be better. I think a poor April really set us back overall.

In the "Bock at a Glance" you predicted a 2nd place finish and 93 wins. Unless you go 0-9 these last two sims, haven't you have exceeded those expectations?

Yes and no. I guess I'm more disappointed in my hitting.

I've highlighted all season how good my pitching was. I knew Todd Martin, Aidan Gay, Pat Matson (when he started earlier this season), TJ Dunn and Dave Calvert were all capable starters - I just didn't expect them to be this collectively good at the same time.

On the flip side I'm really disappointed in so many hitters. Of my younger inexperienced guys I thought Jarrod Brown was ready to contribute and he isn't yet. I thought JP Knappe would be a bit better. Not a star but I guess I was a little overly bullish on him. Jamie August showed some glimpses early but really hit the wall in the summer. Robby McGowan and Dave Malden were decent - giving about what I expected.

The real disappointment comes from Erik Jackson. His sophomore slump (which looks like a real thing among many this year) really slowed the offense when combined with the fall off from Troy McCarley. I mitigated McCarley's drop off with McCrory somewhat. Bobby Marrero came on strong late to pick up for Kemp and Rosales who never really got going this season like they have for stretches the last two seasons.

Stephen Pierce has done what I needed him to do in trading Lara for Kane who I really really wanted.

When only two guys (Anguiano and Marrero) in your Opening Day lineup play up to (or above) your personal expectations, it feels like a disappointment.

I also really expected Windy City and Los Alamos to be much better than they were. I thought we might win those 93 games with a four way race between DVS-SEA-CHI-LAA. In a way we have been lucky to just go heads up with SEA all season. BAT has lurked all season and may squeeze out someone but the top 7 have been there all season eliminating the playoff push urgency from me.

3-3 and Lady Luck hasn't been on our side all season, evidenced by a -7 PYT. I haven't seen anything that bad for us in a while but that's the way the cookie crumbles. For whatever reason, we rarely play well in the last 2-3 weeks of the season. We've had pretty good pitching all year, so I can only hope they can carry us past NY in a must win situation away from home.

Shavermetrics loved Batavia. Even after trading away players, they can compete with any team in the BLB. They are the hottest team in the IL right now. With a remaining schedule of DVS, SEA, PHI, they have their work cut out for them, though.

Are we using a different formula for next season?

Due to the hectic offseason, we didn't notice how misshapen the 2017 schedule was until it was too late to correct it.

We have a better schedule lined for we next year, we think.

I believe they found a schedule that better fits the format.

Ootp is terrible at creating its own schedule.

Yes, next season we'll introduce the all CAR/DAV schedule for Philly.

Speaking of Carolina, you have to admire squid's courage in playing an entire season with a leadoff hitter who bats .193 and a total of three starters who hit below .200.

Nah, this is baseball. We'd still manage to lose at least 54 just because.
