3-3. It's a bit concerning that we lost back to back road series, given how many more of them we have to go. But, we responded by taking the first two against Seattle to salvage the week and lead the Stout by 2 games.

I wish I shared Pat's optimism that we're the team to beat, but I don't think there's any clear separation between us and the rest of the IL race. We really need to have home field and that's not going to be easy to get. I will be able to put Haraguchi and Abrams back in my lineup this week, so hopefully that will help.

      Hmm.

Recently called up Bulldog, Pat Bryan, debuted as the #7 second baseman in the league.

Liquid/Squid do you guys know what happened to him? I know what the initial thought would be, but I'm just curious since I don't remember him. Did he just play better than his ratings for a year or two? He just seemed to fall off the face of the earth.

I don't know what happened with Pat Gates. I know there were shenanigans in the league at the time, but I'm not sure why Clay would target my team - we were awful when Gates was starring in 1992.

I remember posting about him when he was in the minors and I was excited about his future, but I can't find those. He was a first round pick and top 50 prospect, so ratings suggested he was going to be good.

I don't understand what happened to Pat Gates. I loved him as a prospect, he came up and won New Brew and seemed like a guy I could count on in the middle of my lineup going forward. The next season, his ratings fell substantially and he wasn't quite as good. And then 1994 rolled around and my scout didn't even see him as a BLB quality player anymore. He sucked in Spring Training and never found any of his prior form after being sent down. I finally released him about a month ago and nobody has picked him up.
So, like I mentioned, a new season (1994) started and he suddenly sucked. Maybe it was Clay, but I just attributed it to one of those weird OOTP things where it just decides someone isn't any good anymore. He went from being a good BLB hitter to someone who couldn't hack it in AAA.

Ismael Reyes took his place on my team, so it sort of worked out.

If he was going to be one of those special type players Clay snuffed him out. See MAP, see Sau...

I always wondered what a guy like Oscar Gaxiola could do in a park like NY or Dallas.

Hes in NY putting up monster numbers on a veteran min contact so you'll have to talk to Spectre about that.

I had that bum for two years... Great numbers, but lousy production in his time in California.

California, Baltimore, and Denver are probably 3 of the 4 worst places for him to have spent the majority of his career.

Agreed. He's a good pitcher who played in ballparks not designed for him.

Gaxiola has nice home and road splits- I extended him for cheap next year because I think he enjoys playing in NY. I hope a few batters realize how great it is to play here- look at HoF Joe Rojas, if you hit you can play here.
