I'm referring to players in the minors, not in the BLB. Specifically, the low level of minors.

It's very common to see a scouting report change from OSA or your scout by one point over the course of a year. I'm saying that "3" contact 18-year-old, could receive a "4" contact from OSA or your scout by the time they are 19.

      That's true.

I'm not totally opposed to signing a low-level someone with 3 contact. I have a couple. But they'd better be really good in some other area.

When do you start to develop players in other positions.? I tried this year in AA and we lost a lot games. They hit well but allow too many runs therefore lose games therefore got pissed...

          The position thing is tough.

It's a well-known fact (or maybe it isn't) that guys will likely struggle while learning a new position.

That being said, what Pat is saying isn't like throwing a 1B to CF and saying "good luck!"

Its more like taking a guy like Tom Pelloni or Pat Palmer in my system and saying, oh you can play infield, screw being the starter at this one spot, how about I play you at every infield position?

Guys that have fielding talent don't necessarily struggle at the plate when being moved around the diamond. Might as well make them talented in as many positions as possible.

I have a post about this I'll make later because I made a big mistake with my team around 2010. And it was because I focused on a starting 9 and locking guys into one position. I think it would be a good lesson to newer OOTP gamers. Maybe even a few vets.

It looks like he is fully developed at 2B. Why not give him some reps at 1B or SS? With those infield ratings, with enough reps, he could be a "6" at 1B, easy. Or, at SS, I'm sure he could at least get to a "4". Of course, his future is at 2B and that's where he will probably start 99% of his games going forward, but having the ability to slide over to 1B or SS in case of injury or the ability to acquire another 2B, just makes sense.
Why you picking on Ted De Arruda for?

But you're right. I personally held him back from other positions because I wasn't completely sold on him at 2B.

Next year, he'll be bouncing around a bit as I'm now convinced he'll be just fine handling second.

Edit. Oops. Forgot to say I don't know if you're talking about him specifically. But he fits the mold.
