A good sim on the field for me, as we went 5-2 with series wins over New York and Death Valley. Combined with a bad week from Philly, and we're suddenly tied for first place. It's been a long time since we've been up here in the standings.

Unfortunately, Haraguchi was hurt and will be out for a month. He had been hitting better lately, so that's a blow to my team for the stretch run. At least I've got Tony Garza as a competent fill-in, but he's been pretty bad lately. It will also let me try out some better defensive outfield options, I guess. Not ideal, but I was bound to have another injury. At least I'll get him back this year.

Also, Batavia is making everyone rethink the IL playoff race. Suddenly the 6 teams aren't so clear anymore.

Wow. Seattle responds after getting swept by Baltimore to go 7-0 with sweeps of Los Alamos and Davenport. Now just one game back of Death Valley for the Bock lead. This team continues to live by the long ball after hitting 10 more this week.

3B Zachary Henne stays red hot by hitting three bombs this week including a walk-off three run homer against Windy City. At mid-season I was talking to teams about what level of prospect they would need to take on his remaining $5M salary... Now I'm considering picking up his 2018 $10.5M option. Wild.

Two more against Carolina, then a travel day before facing @Batavia, @DVS and vs. PHI. Let's see if this team is for real.

2017 Regular Season SIM 19 Complete - Next SIM Mon 7/25

5-2 losing two games that we really shouldn't have, to Denver.

Gosser is getting hot at the right time winning IL POW, while Rosema looks like he never left Baltimore. He may prove to be a real difference maker down the stretch for us. Huge games next week.

4-3 week with MOR closing the gap... We should be happy about sweeping PITT but we couldn't hold HAR and we lost the first one against NO... Hard August for us...

Will the next SIM be extra large to bring us to the 1st of September? Or rather would be a short one later on?

Next SIM Mon 7/25, then I think there will be a four day sim on Tue 7/26, and then a three day sim on Wed 7/27. Based on what happened last year.

                  Can't wait for September 1st!

Batavia coming up fast on my heels. Our pitching has been off for a bit this month but I hope they regain their form.

September 1st may lead to some interesting call ups on my end.

Looks like the "Beast of Burden" is finally setting in. Following a dominant 7 inning, 12 strikeout performance the the 2-time DL Pale Ale winner has lowered his ERA in Baltimore to 2.67, going 4-1 in five starts. Overall, I'm really liking this rotation. It is as balanced as any we've had in Baltimore.

Surprisingly, we are looking pretty good without Ricky. He doesn't comeback until the 2 weeks left in the regular season so if we can just sneak into the playoffs, that's a huge bat to add to a potential playoff run.

First though, we've got to take care of NY and Washington next week.

I'm not sure why 2016 #8 overall pick SS Nelson Marquez was promoted to AA while hitting .160 at single-A.

He's not hitting any better at AA.

I was just trying to catch lightning in a bottle. He was unhappy in A ball and hoped a change in scenery would be the spark he needed. Looks like it's back to A ball for this future bust.

A happy note for California fans Mike Morla is currently raking in AAA to the tune of a .304/.397/.872 slash. Pretty sweet for the soon to be cornerstone middle infielder.
