June has been a struggle for the Pilots at 10-14. With only three games remaining, on the road to face Washington, a sub .500 month is guaranteed.

Hopefully we can regroup during the All-Star break but I'm not optimistic.

4-3 and we really should have won at least one of the three we lost in Chicago.

-We are slowly returning back into the thick of the playoff race, as the All-Star break looms near. June has looked a lot better than May, spearheaded by the improved play of Ricky Murillo, 21 year old rookie, D.J. LaRossa (3B), the 2017 acquisition, Adrian Pulido (SP) and veteran workhorse, Troy Donovan. Murillo has an IL leading, 9 home runs and 27 RBI for the month of June, LaRossa is hitting .356 for the month, while both Pulido and Donovan boast a sub 2.00 ERA in their five starts this month.

-Javy Pimienta (OF) and his 3MM contract have been placed on waivers this sim. Pimienta was signed as a 5th outfielder to help out with power vs. LHP but he hasn't done much at all. It was such a crappy signing on our part but, we are willing to give up a future 6th to take the remainder of his contract. Otherwise, we'll likely just be out of 3MM this year.

-On the farm, I'm really liking the look of 2016 second round pick, Pat Bryan (AA). He's looking really good and will be getting a look at AAA before year's end.

6-1 sim for NYK and we are back in business. It still stinks that Fink is out for the season but he rest of the pen is stepping up nicely in his place. As is always the case with my teams, if the offense clicks we'll be really dangerous.

The Pilots have the best road record and worst extra-innings record in baseball.

3-3 week. Taylor Thomas is clearly not a lead-off guy, hitting only .061 this week, haha.

But the good news is I found out my newly acquired 3B loves it there.
So back to the 3-hole for Thomas and I'll shoehorn Ontiveras in as our leadoff hitter until Douglas comes back.

Now for the weekly Morgantown Hodge Podge:

Consider the curious case of Edgar Luna.

A 7th round pick in 2014 (was there a bad player in that draft??) who my scout didn't really like.
OSA's ratings were higher than his, but it was his stats that caught my eye.
A starter in his first season at the University of Arizona, he was converted to a reliever and his ERA dropped nearly 5 points going from 7.32 to 2.45.

Going straight to the Explosives(A) out of college, he put up an impressive 1.33 ERA and 15 saves before being promoted to Double-A near the end of the season where he recorded 4 saves and a 1.35 ERA in six games.
He started in Martinsburg(AAA) the following year where he saved 23 games under an incredible 1.47 ERA.
In 2016, and still only 21, I didn’t want to rush him, instead deciding to see what he could do in another full season at the Triple-A level.
It did not go well. Despite recording 30 saves, he struggled all year posting a career worst 4.88 ERA.
Not to be undone, he decided he COULD do worse in 2017 posting a 5.90 ERA and eventually losing his role as the Badgers closer.

Due to some injuries and some underperforming arms in Morgantown, I figured, ‘what the heck’ and called him up. I wondered if he was floundering due to being disappointed and/or bored pitching in the minors.
Since being called up on June 6th, he’s been flawless with a 0.00 ERA and .38 WHIP over 13.1 scoreless innings.

I’m because I’ve written this, he’ll get shalacked this coming sim. But this software continues to fascinate me in how realistic it is with all the hidden metrics taking place under the hood.
Is Luna that player who needs to be called up sooner than later in order to help spark growth? Would he have gotten worse sitting on the farm? Or is this very small sample size a placebo affect that could end up hurting his development if I’m forced to send him back down?
Each sim I learn or see something new. Such a cool game and an awesome league to be part of.

                        LOL, it's a loooong season.
My team was red-hot thru June last year. Then they couldn't win a series if their life depended on it.
We limped into a Wildcard playoff and got lucky.

Hopefully we can keep this train rolling through the dog-days of the season.
                        You have a great team.
It'll be tough to keep pace.

As long as I surpass OOTP's prediction of 79 wins I'll be happy. ;)
