Pat... Is this your first "power team"? Not much contact, but wow power everywhere. Nice.

I had my share of sluggers over the years... Mal Brady, Mike Murdock, Pat Ladd, Miguel Angel Padilla, Antonio Cardenas, Jerry Fortin... but this is the first time I've ever had a "power team," as you call it. It also helps not playing in a .960 HR park.

It's definitely different. I used to be more contact/speed/avoid K... this team is all power.

I feel like I might have dodged a bullet in losing the Bafford sweepstakes to Wilmington in January.

I'm not so sure about that. Almost every position player on the team has a 7+ defensive rating at multiple positions. Ratings still matter.

34 year old, Nelson OPS'ing over 1.000 with 13 home runs, 2 months in doesn't hurt either.

Great learning for the new owners, ratings aren't everything.

Sure, it factors in.....but it's not everything. How many times have we've seen teams "on paper" look awesome only to fall flat on its face?

He's got a sold defense and power hitting so yes it's built a certain way. What I'm saying is would you expect a team that wins 61% of its game while a team like Wilmington wins 42%?

Again it's a part, but it's a piece of the pie. I'm starting to think if you go by ratings, go by OSA.

Lol he's fine, but he would of voted against every new rule that's in place. Says then 2 division format looks wierd and we still have divisional blow outs.

                    Yep, he's still Jistic.

I actually think some teams look at bit better. Take a close look at 1B, 2B and bullpen. Catcher, OF and setup.... Yeah we're pretty good.

                          Starting pitching also.

The decline is not lost on me, though you seem be be exaggerating the "since 2014 especially contact" part, given his only rating loss since 2014 is one point of contact.

I was not expecting his $8 million 2017 salary to pay for his 1.033 OPS 2011 Stout Slugger season.

But he's showing the same ratings as last season, when he hit .296 with 28 home runs and an .853 OPS.

Instead he has a .229 average with only seven home runs and an OPS south of .670, even though he's not being asked to play the field.

Decline or no decline, his underperformance isn't justified by his current ratings.

Which wouldn't explain why he's batting only .235 with a .714 OPS on the road.
