The last time I drafted a high school outfielder, it was exactly 20 seasons ago, and that player was Steve Suarez.
If Zachary Smith ends up half the player Suarez became, I'll be happy with this pick.
Smith does not fit my usual profile, but I'm enamored with his ability to make contact, be patient at the plate, and hit with enough power to be dangerous.
He's impressively far along in his development for a high school prospect, to the point I wouldn't be surprised if he were the first player drafted in the 2000s to make his BLB debut.Maine Guides
