Another Guides injury, as Suarez goes down. It might just be one of those years.

We are just terrible. I'm pretty sure Dave Lippert is now the worst pitcher in the league.

I hope McKay, Moore and Herrera will wake up soon... Terrific month anyway. Contreras is disappointing me. Can't wait to have Lofink up

              Pawtucket 5-1.

Just hope we keep building that lead. Were gonna need a buffer with all these teams.

Pitching back to 5 man staff. Time to start looking at match-ups week to week with the staff. Its all about splits.

Otherwise seems things are starting to smooth out. Hitting can still use some improvement.

I'm sitting back in wonder at how badly I blew it since the end of last season, when we won 85 games and entered the offseason with $40 million to spend.

                * I let T.J. Dunn go for nothing to Kansas City in the expansion draft, deciding I would rather have another $20 million to spend following Dunn's disappointing season. Dunn currently has an OPS .120 points higher than his year in Maine and is on pace for 44 home runs.

                * Instead of spending the money in free agency, I replaced Dunn with Antonio Banuelos (and added a pick), who cost me three top prospects and has been below replacement level in three sims so far.

                * I signed Pat Vonada to play third base. He hit so poorly I had to cut him loose after a month.

                * I spent $10.5 million to bring back Fernando Hernandez, who is productive but starting to look his age finally.

                * I signed David Soto, who is hitless in 13 at-bats as a utility infielder.

                * I added Hector Gutierrez, who has actually been great. Yay!

                * I signed Tom Churchill to an $8 million deal. Churchill, who led the Import League in total bases last year while finishing second in runs scored and in the top ten in home runs, RBIs, and stolen bases, is batting .169 with a total of two home runs and four runs batted in.

                * I added Zhi-peng Kun, who has indeed been a nice utility player.

So here we are, at 10-16, with the worst offense in baseball.

That's how you squander an offseason.

Well in what may be the highlight of the season for the Brawlers we go 3-3 including two shut-outs. Not sure how we got that first one against Seattle considering we gave up 10 hits.

Another losing week, going 2-4 including three 1-run losses to the Stout leader. The injuries are starting to effect our performance defensively. Luckily, we'll get Tom Griffiths (3B) back next sim to help shore up some our defensive woes at third base while I figure out what we are going to do about our defensive issues in the outfield.

-We aren't going to win much with Ricky Murillo (OF) going 5/25, D.J. Gosser (1B) going 4/23 and Malik Roberson (OF) going 4/25. We can expect to continue to lose with guys swinging like that.

-On a brighter note, Jimmy Mattoon (SP) won the first award of his BLB career at age 34. He was voted the IL POW this past sim and is having a terrific season. He may be the first player in a long time to spend his entire career as a Bulldog.

We also gave former Bulldog star, 5-time All-Star, and 2-time back-to-back IL Stout Slugger, Terumoto Chiba (1B), to a minor league contract. He'll be playing DH in Annapolis (AAA), giving him an opportunity to retire with the organization where he made his name.

If he's nominated for the Hall of Fame, should be interested what the voters think about a "what if" guy like him.

Just a bad streak where it feels like nothing you do can go right. lol i had one of those from 94-96. Usually happens after a string of good moves. Did I mention next decade is gonna suck for Pawtucket?
