    Reminder

    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their third arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have three "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

He wanted 8 @ $27/yr as an extension late last season.

Some big names off the board.

I actually managed to make a signing, and now I have enough players to fill out my infield depth chart. Hooray.

              Finally few additions in Dallas

1B Danny Gomez, we needed power, what about 38+ HRs in the last 3 seasons?? Our ballpark is not as good as Syracusa´s for hitters, but man, he will drive the ball over the fences, his intangibles and Iron man status makes him to worth $75M over the next 4 seasons. Big spending in here, am very happy landing him.

RP William Maher, hopefully will push Mendoza for the Setup role position next to Arsenault in the middle of the summer, Arsenault needs development and Mendoza + Maher will be the setup players.

RP Alejandro Tellez, only allowed 9 HRs in the last 3 years, a extreme groundball player who won´t be the best in the world, but will do his job in our ball park.

RP William Junger, he will be our long relief guy and will push for a middle reliever option.

RF Taylor Bell, am surprise about his raw power from the left side of the plate, hopefully he will regain his form back in Philadelphia to push me against the wall for a 2nd contract.

                Well that was interesting.

I'm ok with Ethan because I wasn't going to give Bafford all of that cash, but I am bummed that we missed out on Perkins. He took 4/68 MM guaranteed in Hartford over the 3/63 with a 21MM option with us.

It is actually kind of cool to see this happen.

I like how the offseason plays out now that we changed the contract demands and had a year to learn what to expect from the process.

It feels more open to every team participating.

                      I'll expand on that...

It used to be that the best players signed extensions, often below-market, to re-sign with the league's best teams like Pawtucket, Maine, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington, etc.

Now, those teams have to pay up to keep their players, and they can't keep all of them.

So we see non-traditional free agent destinations get involved, like Wilmington grabbing Bafford, Dallas signing Gomez, Hartford adding Perkins, an expansion team (Seattle) signing Dunham and Padilla.

Meanwhile, many of the traditional contenders, already sporting bloated payrolls, have been silent on the free agent market.

It's a positive development for the league.
