    Reminder

    14. CONTRACTS
    • If Team Option is used the Buyout must be the difference between Option year and highest Guaranteed year.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their third arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have three "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.

We completed a minor signing, adding David Soto.

Soto is a sneaky good utility infielder. A 33 year old signed for $440,000, Soto has a .673 career OPS (.677 in 2016) that looks great to me for a player who doesn't expect to start and can defend every infield position, plus center field and right field.

Soto spent the previous three seasons with New Orleans after beginning his career in Carolina.

Another series of misses for me in free agency. I just knew that I was going to be outbid after seeing my offers were favored last week.

All quiet in Vegas for FA. Still some simmering discussions on the big three of Honea, Wright and McCarley. I'd really like to move all three and would include cash, but I think all three are probably Opening Day starters in Vegas at this point and we should enter the season as one of the IL favorites again.

Looking like Pat Strawder will be our backup C. Probably going to have to find a backup CF though. Rotation is crowded with Honea, but I can keep Calvert and Maggio down until I see what Aidan Gay can do.

I'm pretty happy with the young pieces we've added so far. Our system is back in the middle of the pack and I think I have a bunch of good prospects that aren't OSA rated highly just yet.

It took $20M+ annually to convince SP Dave Dunham to move out west but I think he's worth it.

I thought about signing him but he doesn't fit our park well enough for 20MM per.

I was really surprised he lasted this long since the FA cupboard is a little thin on pitching.
