    A few Denver notes:
    • Whoever signs Mike Del Rio will get a great defensive catcher with a nice bat that is also somehow improving as a player after 30. Now up to #15 in the Top 20 List.

Played a career high 149 games. Career best 4.6 WAR. 2012 Pittsburgh year was very good but one can make an argument that considering he's 31 and not 27, 2016 might be his finest season yet. Also, he threw out 42% of would-be base stealers.

It will come with a price as he's been asking for $188 MM (Maine should thank their lucky stars Ray Davila only wanted $46 MM over 4 years at the same time in his career). He was on the block all season so now you can all fight over him in free agency.

    • Antonio Banuelos suffered a late injury and with that his qualification for a place in the batting race...for a second consecutive year. Last year he would have been the batting leader in the DL. This season, he would have finished fourth overall.

Banuelos did lead the DL in doubles. I guess that's where his 60 points went.

    • Tied for the fewest errors in the DL (73). Second in Zone Rating (+44.2). Second in Defensive Efficiency (.708). The best D?

    • Finally, Denver misses the playoffs for the millionth time in its three decade history. But it finished above season expectations with 75 wins. 9 more than OSA predicted and 3 more than Pat predicted. A +7 on the Pythagorean side.

      We'll take it.

Just couldn't take care of business.
Losing two to Batavia hurt, but then losing 2 to the Cobs was the death knell.

Pitching really sunk my team in the 2nd-half of the season.
If I got a good start, my bullpen would blow it.
Other times, my starters just shat the bed.
And then when I did get decent pitching, my offense went cold.

A team that looked like in perfect sync through early June, certainly found a way to play offtune the remainder of the year.

Hopefully we can take care of bidneh in Washington. At least I have Baldwin going and Jamie finally got hot.
The Morgantown Unfaithful are praying for a miracle in DC.

It's been a long time coming for Philly to win the Stout.

Brad, thanks for finishing what I started back in 1978!

That's cool Carlos. A shitty defensive 1B who has warning track power and lost 60 points on his batting average. Talk about a stud.

I think you missed the fact that my comment about you inheriting your team was a joke, Mike.

You know since everyone else was also joking and it's something you've always hated that people say.

But all good. Next time, if you want Banuelos, make a legit offer instead of two bum minor league pitchers and a pick.

                  Congrats Brad.

Great time to hit our worst and to produce one run in the entire series at home. I'm pretty sure we're going to shit in the bed in this wildcard game too. And even if we make it, DVS is a terrible matchup for us.

These are the types of games where we needed Malik's leadership.

                    1. It's just an invalid comment. So yes, it gets under my skin because it takes away from the fact that I've gotten this team into 8/9 postseasons (with middling and zero postseason success, mind you, I'm sure this season won't be any different and we'll get swept somehow)

                    2. Don't say "make a legit offer to me". Every offer I make is a legit offer and considering how your best player, best young hitter and your ace are guys you got from me - I'd expect better than that horrific slight of "make a legit offer"

                    3. Finally, don't worry. I don't want Banuelos. I won't be making a bullshit offer of any kind.

An invalid comment I wasn't serious about. Like, I would expect that you would know I didn't actually believe that.

As for the rest, I don't even know how to comment on that. It's a league where a lot of trades are made. Should I be thanking Matt for drafting Banuelos? Should Jimmy be sending me thank you cards for McPherson and Perkins? I mean, who cares where they came from. We made a trade and you got players back too.

But we made trades that benefitted us both at the time. With Banuelos, I told you I didn't like the offer and your response has been to constantly say I should trade Banuelos as if he hasn't been on the block for a whole season. You don't know which GMs I've talked to about trades.

If Banuelos hasn't moved it's because Banuelos isn't moving for anything but a good return. Minus 60 points is still a .316 average, 51 doubles and a .850 OPS. I'm not moving that just to move that and I know you wouldn't either.

It wasn't bull shit. I just didn't think it was a legitimately fair one for his talent. But I expressed that to you then so this isn't a surprise to you.

Lastly, I made it a point to emphasize it being i illegitimate because you keep saying bad things about Banuelos.

What did he do to you?! Let the man just hit, Mike. Let him hit.

85 Pitt, 86 Maine and now 2016 Pawtucket joins the Ale brothers with 114 wins. Blew a 3-2 lead to Maine ending any hopes of 115.

Still we lost DJ Dunn, Telez, Talley and Griffin replaced them with OF Shanchez , SP Robillard , SP Salzman a defensive SS finally went with 1B by committee and won the most games in our team history.

Everything went right. Does it mean a cup? Who the hell knows, but excited about where we stand and already have traded a guy who will free up some cash next season (announcement pending) so maybe we can keep it alive a bit longer assuming we don't make dumb moves.
