I woll be surprised if we make the play offs, we're very sloppy after the break...

At least we know what we have to do during the off-season.

That Ian Brooks absence in the middle of our rotation is going to drag us down. We're really on the verge of a backslide down the standings.

My friggin pitching couldn't hold water and my offense is downright floundering.
Nobody seems to be able to hit the long ball. Jamie is really struggling right now and Feliciano hasn't hit one out in almost a month.

Sure could use Briseno and his 24 dingers right about now.

I may start tinkering with my rotation.
Might go to 5 starters and move Baisden to the pen. My closers haven't really been the problem, but I feel Moondog going in as my closer will accomplish two things:
          1) Between he and Almarez, I should be able to close out any game we're leading after 7.
          2) Baisden won't be able to give our team a bad start. He was great the first two months and been downright pedestrian since.
He can't get past 5 innings of work either.

I'm also contemplating re-calling Dave Bound from AAA again.
The lineup needs more muscle and despite him being only 22YO, I'm hoping he can learn quickly and his power in AAA can translate at the pro-level.
I hate sitting Santiago's .300+ average, but I've lost one too many games by a run or two. I need a jolt of offense that only some power can supply.

5-1 week and we took care of business against a really good NO team. Huge week for TY McKay as he takes on POTW honors. Pretty mild schedule coming up, 5/6 next series are against teams with a sub .500 record and one series with a really talented DVS squad mixed in...fortunately it's at home. Going to continue to mix in the bench guys while resting the big name players, and hopefully we can continue to pad this lead so I can play mainly prospects in September before turning the vets on before what we hope is the playoffs.

Pat Vickers is still hitting .387 and he's now been worth 3.0 WAR for us. I thought he might have been the best 2B in that 14 draft and if he's gonna flirt with .400 his whole career then he might be the best player in the draft haha. But in all seriousness I couldn't have expected him to make the impact he has, and I really hope water just doesn't find its level until next April....keep playing well above your head sir.

Went 3-3 on the week against Stout rivals. We actually won a series against Wilmington, which seems miraculous given how they've owned us this season. Unfortunately Baltimore took 2/3 from us, and they've made up some ground on our heels. Looks like they did help us out against Philly though, so I'll take that.

Big sim coming up next, as we host Philadelphia for 4 games with first place on the line, then head to Baltimore for similarly high stakes.

5-1 for the week IN THE STOUT and if the rookie, Pat Falvey (SP), hadn't choked away a 2 run lead in the eighth we would've gone undefeated on the road in the Stout to start August. No matter, I won't complain about it too much since Falvey will likely just spend the remainder of the year in AAA, AGAIN.

As a team, we posted a 1.36 ERA for the week. No starter on the roster gave up more than 2 ER this week, including a 8K, 1BB NO HITTER by William Eddy (SP) in Philly. Since July 1 we have posted a 2.90 ERA (2nd in the IL) on the year and an IL best 23 wins. Not too bad for a team that can only win at home, I guess.

One of the biggest pieces to our recent success has been the addition of former Ale star infielder, Tom Griffiths (3B), and 40 year old reliever, Pat Knight from Maine. Since coming to Baltimore, Griffith has been hitting at the same All-Star level he did in Pawtucket despite our park. Last week the 35 year old hit 8/18 with 5 RBI and a 1.323 OPS. Meanwhile, Knight is also making it look like the fountain of youth is in Baltimore. He posted a 6.18 ERA to start the year in Maine, but has an ERA of barely over 3 in over 22 IP in Baltimore. Thanks, Z.

Another big addition has been the signing of 34 year old veteran, Troy Davis (RP). With his leadership and performance, we haven't seemed to miss a beat despite trading both LaRocco and Mendoza. So far he's pitched 14.1 scoreless innings out of the pen and that kind of performance cannot be overlooked. As long as he keeps up this performance ( and doesn't raise his demands), he'll be playing in Baltimore for at least another year.

This was such a big week. To cut the Stout lead to five while on the road IS HUGE. Now we get to head home for seven against Wilmington and Washington. Interestingly, I somehow accidentally stopped using 7-day lineups a few weeks back which has allowed Ismail Lopez (our manager) to pretty much take the reigns. I "watched" the games this week and initially, I was pissed about some of the changes he made in in the lineup but I can't argue with these results. Outside of suggesting minor changes in the rest schedule, I think I'm going to roll with daily lineups at the manager's discretion and butt out of day-to-day management for the rest of the year.

Pawtucket 4-2 and clinched a winning season this sim. Nice work guys.

Jimmy Lee been getting some work past few weeks in AAA and might be due to come back up. He's been learning 2B.

Do you treat your stars differently too?

Ricky Murillo hits .286/.292/.911, 2 HR and 5 RBI and I'm acting like he had a terrible week.

I broke the door earlier this season, and we're over budget, so no money for a new one.
