5-2 and Murillo is still struggling to swing the bat consistently. He did have a 2-run walk off home run for a close win over Los Alamos so I probably should just shut the hell up now.

We won 18 games in July but the Stout is so tough, it doesn't seem like we've gained any ground on Philly or Washington at all.

Interesting. We had 18 wins and only 4 saves in July which makes me realize that I don't know what actually constitutes a save.

3-3 on the road agains LAD and NO without Romero and Frost? I take it. Cinelli is pushing his case for the Pale Ale award too... The guy is killing it!

2B and 3B are ready to comeback in this key week to get back to the Top of the Division with NO breathing in our necks... We can't give up nothing

Tom Reed comes back this week and his control rating improved while he rehabbed.

            Time to unleash this man.

Thanks. So saves are coming in with a four run or less lead? Seems like a pretty useless stat in that case.

I think we are at the bottom of the pile for XBH but near the top for home runs, yet no onewith over 20 HR. A strange mixture of stats that probably equals a feast or famine type squad.

Good squad for fan interest though.

                  Thanks.

That should've been apparent to me by UMDs post. After just a brief look on the internets, I don't understand why a distinction is made between a hold and save.

Few other notes from the millers:

                    - 42 year old Pat 'Wildfire' Bryant will begin his rehab assignment this week in AAA Allentown. We're excited to see him as a left handed specialist in Sept/Oct.

                    - Pat Vickers has been one of the best players on the team all season, despite only playing in 50 games with the big club. In 209 PA, he's had a .387/.431/.582/1.013 slash with 43B, 7 HR, 28 RBI, 14 SB good 2.7 WAR.

The 2014 draft, man. What an unbelievable collection of talent that entered the league that season. Fortunately for us, that was one of the years that I had targeted and had a ton of picks, and have been able to secure talent in. There are 15 players in our system from that draft, and I'm optimistic about each one. Couple notables outside of O'Hearn, Vickers, Cleto, Marohnic and Van Gorder...

                    The picks:
Tom Bailey (AAA) P - He's an asshole and he's not liked by his teammates but goddamnit he gets out at the end of the game. The 84th overall pick (4th round) out of Ok State has been knocking on the door of the big leagues since he entered the organization. This season in AAA, his first full season, he's 6-4 with 20 Saves and a 1.94 ERA.

Jimmy Lodermeier (AA) 1B/OF Here he is ladies and gentlemen. Drafted with the 238th pick in the TENTH ROUND of the '14 draft, all Jimmy has done is rake, to a point where he expects to be in the majors now. (might need to pump the breaks there chief...)

                    his numbers:
                    -14 ORST .272/.393/.510/.936
                    -14 A .364/.500/.636
                    -14 AA .343/.430/.463/.893
                    -15 AA .295/.382/.438
                    -16 AA .313/.426/.510

Rated as the 18th best hitter in AA, Jimmy has a chance to become my all time favorite player in this game being as how he was drafted in the most valuable round in all of the draft....the TENTH ROUND.

Jamie Lacks (AA) 1B/OF, 7th round, 167 overall, this RH hitting LF produced a strong .305/.399/.469/.867 line in A ball before beginning his AA career with a .387/.457/.581/1.088 clip/

                    The trades:
Wilson Mercado (AAA) P - Acquired in the Jamie Monson trade, Mercado, the 124th overall pick in the 6th round has been really solid for AAA allentown after posting dominant numbers in AA. His 4.27 ERA is misleading as his 2.80 FIP indicates a high level of success.

Jamie DeShon (AA) P 3rd best P in AA Acquired in the Ethan Bafford deal with Maine which also brought 1B Dave Kendrick to Pittsburgh, Jamie has demonstrated the ability to be a workhorse after being selected in the 3rd round.

Jimmy Stough (AA) P 13th best P in AA...Acquired in the deal that sent Jamie Raymer to HAR, this 6th round selection has produced ERA's of 2.20, 1.64, 3.86, 2.38 prior to this season, and he's really taken a step forward this season. He's currently 11-2 with a 2.58 ERA in AA ball this season.

                    The find:
Josh Patrick (AA) OF ... Josh went underrated after a subpar senior season at Cal State Fullerton in the 2014 season, and was signed in July of the 14 season by the Millers. Currently rated as the 13th best hitter in AA, Josh has finally been given consistent PT in 15 and 16 and last season hit .292/.366/.466/.833 and this season has mashed to a tune of .315/.411/.455/.865 in AA. Quite a story for an undrafted player to be this productive, and we certainly hope he continues this pace.

                    Finally....

                    - Nara with Dav - .227/.318/.399/.717 9 HR in 375 PA
                    - Nara with PIT - .319/.389/.745/1.134 6 HR in 55 PA

                    - Schubert with NYK - .268/.359/.482/.842
                    - Schubert with PIT - .343/.395/.686/1.080

A save requires finishing the game. A hold is essentially holding the lead for the save.

There is also a traditional save which is pitching 3 effective relief innings.

Also note that technically a save is awarded at a scorer's discretion. But so much money is made from it now that it's highly unlikely a 3 run lead of any kind isn't registered as save.

We moved back into the 2nd WC spot...which I doubt will last but it's nice to see. We also swept Morgantown who has completely owned us the last season and a half.

If only Milt Stoll would have had a DJ Gosser type season we'd be a much better hitting team. Gamboa is rusty and old and a desperate move. Stoll meanwhile goes back to AAA...my scout think he's gained potential power now...and he's crushing it. I guess I'll just leave him there.
