Among non-Clay teams, I think it's that 1999 California club.

PIT (1985) and MAI (1986) both have had 114 win seasons (Virginia, Death Valley today, had a 121 win season and a 119 win season but those are tainted).

Neither PIT nor MAI won the title in their historic seasons.

It'll suck for you when water finds its level for the Patriots and you lose in the first round.

That 1999 California will be a piece of BLB trivia someday. To go from 82-80 to 113-49 is incredible.

1-6 week...6-16 on the road, 0-6 vs Morgantown this year.

                        Anyone on the waiting list?

I'm paying Victor Robles $1m per at bat for the foreseeable future. Bargain.

So another 6-0 week that gives us 12 straight wins and likely, one of the best single month performances in team history. The most encouraging part of this streak is that we won last week while Murillo was suspended 4 games for beating up a Morgantown pitcher.

We can't say enough for our rookies that are making a difference in the team already. It seems like Phillips Field is somehow helping our RHB too.

                            1B D.J. Gosser: .327/.413/.473 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 8 walks vs. 9 K's (55 AB)
                            2B J.J. Carver: .308/.366/.544 with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 11 RBI (65 AB)
SS Tom Perry: .310/.318/.571 with 2 doubles and 3 TRIPLES (42 AB)
RP Jimmy Cooper: 0.63 ERA, 14.1 IP

That doesn't even count the impressive early season performances of Murillo, Flores and Malik (Roberson).

The funny thing is despite all of this early success, we are only 1/2 game up on Philly and just 3 games up on "last place" Wilmington.

Life in the Stout is just soooooooo awesome.

So life with a bit more offense isn't that pleasant.

Not to worry. We see what Szymanski can do and he will continue to DH. But while I think Carter is a nice bat that can play LF (we've been sticking him in right and he's just not handling it well), we are going to go back to all-defense in the outfield with Godinez in left, Bromley in center and Johnson in right (Johnson basically beat out Pugh for this spot).

Carter will still get at-bats as a pinch hitter and sub for Godinez and his wrecked history. But since Godinez is bound to get hurt again, I like having Carter ready to go and contribute when necessary.

Banuelos, Szymanski, Del Rio. We've now got three bats contributing. Anyone else want to step up?!

I'm not giving up on this team. Don't care how many games under .500 we are right now.
