Both of them on my list. Just not as high as the others.

      • I'm happy to take Fontenot in the third round. My scout had him going in the 1st as the first catcher taken. He had way to many question marks for a 1st pick, but as a 3rd I'm pretty pleased. We don't have a lot of depth at the catcher position in our farm system, so adding another was in our plans even if Fontenot wasn't available. Having him as an option just made it a no-brainer.

            • Nice pick Delandis.

              I thought 2B Pat Bryan would be a late 1st/early 2nd.

              • As everyone else did, my scout had a high opinion of Fontenot, just had others ahead of him when I was up to pick. I was a bit concerned about his ability to hit for average or get on base, and 2016 was a lost year due to injury (though he's listed as Durable).

Pat Bryan was also on my board. Very productive college career, but my scout just wasn't that high on him for whatever reason. Goes back to the stats vs. scouting debate in the draft.

As did I. Likely the second best infielder behind Yolo in the NCAA.

I was regretting picking Hanson first, but it all worked out in the end.

                  • 5 guys left on my initial draft list for the first 2 rounds. If one of them slips to 3.13 (9 picks between now and then) I'll be thrilled.

Oh, picks just fired. Now 4 left on my list with 4 picks in front of me. Good chance I'll get one of the guys I had rated as Top 2 round talent in the middle of the third.

                      • I like California's pick of Shaffer. Very young but has some good upside. With all the picks he has had, i like that he rolled the dice with that selection.

                        • Fontenot was a nice pick- was #2 on my board after the top remaining guy on my list which was Jamie Bryce. He's pretty well rated by OSA and my scout. He has elite speed and plays good defense. If he ends up hitting .260 and walks as much as he's predicted to, he'll be great value.

                            • I now have 3 4th round picks. If anyone is looking to move down from the 3rd, I'd be happy to trade up using a couple of them. Or, if not, I'll just make 3 picks in the 4th round.

Neither was mine. My scout actually has similar projections as OSA.

I just couldn't pass on such a great college player at this point, though. He's a very good defender, lead the NCAA in total steals and runs over the last two years, and actually he was 3rd in WAR in his career trailing only Morley and Ratley (#1 overall and #overall selections).

He has a very high floor (IMO) and could end up being much better than our scouts' projections which is good enough for me.
