Is it me or are there still a decent amount of quality players sitting in free agency limbo.

Its May now so would we consider this normal?

I just hope we don't go back to the old days where really good players end up sitting out an entire season.

This coming from a team with no free agent money what so ever. Just not good for the game.

They aren't budging on their asking prices.
As a matter of fact, two FA raised asking prices once l offered.

      Twice.

I think it's fine. There are a few guys who normally would have scooped these guys up who have tons of cash in PD and scouting or over budget. Gotta sacrifice something.

I've been trying to sign a player for 3 weeks and he won't sign...at the price he wants. And we have teams with money who just won't spend it. Signing an extremely popular player for $5m is a pretty good deal. Even if you trade him later.

Having the same issue. One was offering a 1-year deal at 2.7M and now he's up past $6M.

I have -$10M in my budget for FA's, so it's a moot point for me. Still.

And Matt, would you screw off! I can't shake you!

I'm sure half the league offered Golden that deal. I'd hold out for more cash too.

Its add to the realism in my opinion. Frustrating at times, but these guys have a mind of their own to an extent.

Yeah obviously Pawtucket cannot bid on these guys. We've been scooping up minor league deal guys.

Just was wondering if everyone was ok with the possible chance of a couple of top players sitting the season.

I know it happens in the NFL, but cannot recall how often it happens in baseball???

                    Agreed.

I mean how is Shiji going to feed his family on 2.7MM/year?

                      What are your suggestions?

                      Force a mandatory minimum payroll?

                        lol, YES.

just observing something i havent seen in a longtime in the BLB. think we use to see this during the salary cap era.

i was basically wondering what is happening since i cant bid on anyone.

ALOT of conference calls today at work so I'm a bit bored. Carry on.

If you don't spend you get dinged by your owner as he lowers his budget. If you overpay a player vs his asking price he will sign. It's not a game issue, it's human GMs being cheap.

The answer would be never. MLB is littered with guys who asked for too much then settled for crappy one year deals. There should be no sitting this long without their salary demands going into the toilet.

Washington offered Ian Desmond $107 million over 7 years two years ago, which he turned down. Since then he's made 8 million. Ouch!

I mean the money is out there...we can't force teams to spend it though.

I'm okay with it if players won't sign. If teams were hoarding cash and not spending it then there's a problem. But I don't think anyone is doing that.
