Good to see we picked up where we left off...getting swept by Morgantown. Are they leaving for the DL soon?

Back to normal for the Kodiaks! 5-2, quickly followed by a 2-4 week. Ugh! Nice use of a second round pick to get a catching prospect and a fifth starter who gets lit up. No more Morgantown trades. They suck!

The Maine Guides organization congratulates Steve Suarez on his 2,500th career hit.

I didn't think a lineup with Suarez, Tom Griffiths, T.J. Dunn, Voodoo Davila, and General Villarroel would be last in the league in home runs after two weeks.

        Yet here we are.

Sputtering start for us this season. Win our first series getting 2-of-3 from WIL, but get swept by PHI. Starting pitchers getting tore up out the gate.

That´s better, 4-2 week and we´re an absolute different team with Danny Romero in the #3 spot.

Salazar is yet to comeback from the winter, come on little boy, you know how to do this.

Dusty Orbon is killing it, he´s not happy with his performance but we´re happy so far with him 2 games, 12 HA, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 KK, 2 players of the game awards + 0.4 WAR, great start for the Rookie who will push for the Rooke of the year award as predicted by Pat.

Hard to keep my hitters in AAA but they´ve to learn how to play on the BLB while we´re pushing for another play-off run.

              Pawtucket 4-2.

Well after sweeping our first 3 opponents Dallas, New Orleans and Pitt (all 15' playoff teams) we ran into the buzz saw that is .....Syracuse??? Got to dig baseball.

It's been nice seeing newcomers SP JD Robillard, SP Tyler Salzman, RP Shane Burrows and RF Oscar Sanchez meshing real fast to our team.

The new setup personel in place feels good.(Pearsall, Burrows). Lovera doing his usual slow start. As far as the O goes once Piekarski and Mason decide to begin the season we should be fine.

              10-2, no complaints.

We did everything we could to match up against LA but let's be honest, we avoided their two aces and that helped.

We didn't get so lucky with Dallas.

Runs will continue to be a problem for us. But I'm very very happy to see that our starting pitching and bullpen have been great for us. Our defense is also playing excellently.

Losing Loew for two sims hurts. He's our go-to lefty guy and has been a big piece of our pen over the past years. With so little on our roster, any injury can be catastrophic for us. We don't really have many options to turn to. I guess we have to go with Manley which reluctantly means more work for Kelley.

Or maybe Kelley really surprises and shows us he's ready to take the stress off Steffen's shoulder.

Might have to look into our minors and see if there's another lefty worth giving a shot. The only one in AAA is Tom Reed and I'm not calling him up yet. There are some veterans in AA so that might be an option.

Speaking of the minors, AAA started off really well. Meanwhile Oklahoma City did not. We don't have any pitching down there for the first time in a decade so it's not surprising.

                Onto looking at more stats.

edit: Ugh, looking at the stats and it's really aggravating that OOTP still completely ignores strategic requests. Loew is only given 20 pitches max to throw. He had thrown 21 before he stayed on the mound to face the next hitter, St. Thomas. Of course, the 24th pitch is the one that injures him.

I know we can't avoid all injuries with pitch counts but it really stings when you see the game ignore pitch counts and it lead to an injury.

Despite getting off to a rough start with a road trip that saw us get swept in both series, Chicago fans were excited to see the Blues play their home opener this week.

The team responded with a 5-2 start to our homestand, with a three game series coming up against Davenport before we have to go back on the road.

Despite our successful week, there are still those carrying a torch for bygone eras.

But, for better or worse the bunnies have been relegated to AA Rockford for the foreseeable future. The club is hoping to capitalize on the excitement people are feeling, as well as win over the holdouts, with their new Blues Brothers themed ad campaign. The television spots include voiceovers from Dan Akroyd.

Great post Scortch! We need more stuff like that.... LONG LIVE JISTIC!

                          ***

Top five thoughts from a GM without a team...

                          1. The Dinos are for real. The staff is top notch, the lineup is lethal and this year they are actually playing defense. St. Thomas in his natural RF, Perkins to DH and the infield is probably the best in baseball. They just signed CF Jarrod Dapson who will give them the DWI-level CF defense that plagued them all 2015. The Lager should be on high alert.

                          2. Speaking of defense, how about the Freedom? Last year they struggled in that area. This off-season they made a handful of moves sending big names out of town to improve the infield and the outfield. So far, they have the 2nd best defense in the IL and at 8-4, the 4th best record in the BLB.

                          3. What is going on in Death Valley? Arguably the most talented team in the BLB sits at 4-9 after getting swept by the Freedom. It's very early but the team ranks (IL) 11th in OBP, 9th in runs, 10th in ERA and 11th in defense.

                          4. The #1 prospect in baseball, Wilmington's RF Erik 'Trucker' Surmeier, made his Double-A debut: 7 G, 12/27, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, 7 R, 7 BB, 5 K, SB for a split of .444/.559/.556/1.114. He won't celebrate his 20th birthday until November.

                          5. Keep an eye on the waiver wire, boys. Four players were claimed this week.
                          Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
                          Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
                          Washington Bats - 1979-2013

Okay, I feel like my lineups changed this sim, without me touching them. I think my pitch counts changed too, but I'm not sure.

                              Anyone else noticing this?

Gonna keep a closer eye on them next sim and see what happens.
